Colin Trevorrow is out as director of Episode IX. Lucasfilm seems to be running out of directors fast. Reports are emerging that JJ Abrams will return to write and direct Episode IX now. I've seen several places report on it, but I don't know what the original source is and how credible it is. -M It's official.

As long as the sub-title to Episode IX is not the Ewok-Gungan Wars, I am good.

Gungans are so 1999. It's all about Porgs now.

These are a pair of photos from Carrie Fisher's estate showing her and a very young Mark Hammill dancing together at some event. It looks like a prom pic. These are going up for auction soon with Carrie's effects. -M

I finished the Phasma novel. It was an okay read, but like so much of the current canon novels, still has little payoff. I will interested to see if they follow up on some of the things that happen at the end.

I guess I'm in the minority, but these new Star Wars movies just feel like a massive exercise in fan service, no matter the director. I thought that The Force Awakens went a little overboard, but then Rogue One came along and took it to embarrassing new levels. The animated stuff like Rebels smacks the piss out of the new feature films. I agree with you about Force Awakens, but I thought Rogue one was really good.. it was different ,yet still Star Wars. and told a good story. (I mean, I was annoyed there were no Bothans dying, but you can't have everything). I didn't watch much Rebels, but what I did see was super fan service-y.. I mean pink boba fett armor?

I mean pink boba fett armor? the Bothans died getting the plans and info about the second Death star, not the first. It's a quote from RoTJ, not Star Wars (and I only mention it because I used to conflate the two all the time until my wife straightened me out ) -M

I see @mrp got there first. That'll teach me to read the whole page before replying.

Oh, you mean pink Mandalorian armor? Sure, it's a sign of Sabine's creativity and expression of her disillusionment with her family's role in Mandalore's politics. Sabine and Hera are two of the best female SW characters in recent years yet it's such a shame that the merchandising of the show barely reflects their participation and possible role models for young female SW fans. Rebels far outstrips anything Abrams has put onto screen so far, with it's focus on how the Rebellion was truly founded while also picking up lingering plot threads from the terrific Clone Wars cartoon. The show was really validated with show elements being included on-screen in Rogue One. This upcoming Season 4, the last, is supposed link up with the Yavin setting of Rogue One, really looking forward to how it may all end.

Yeah, I have liked what I watched of CLone Wars (I think I'm on season 4), so I should give it another shot. The Mandalorians there are indeed pretty cool, so if she ties into that, that would actually be interesting.
I guess the marketing bit backfired a bit on me!
