That was one of the better Thursday Night openers. The Chiefs just knuckled up big time. Kareem Hunt looked like a video game.

Sox won their 81st game of the season tonight, ensuring at worse they will be a .500 team for the season and won't have a losing record. Hopefully it's not a worse case scenario, and nothing has been wrapped up yet, but hopefully we get to start talking about magic numbers soon.

When it gets to 10, it's safe to start counting down. (17 to clinch the division now.) This could be a week to make hay, though: seven games with Rays and A's.

I don't even really know/pay attention to the magic number until they start putting it in the standings each day (and that's usually when it gets to single digits). It's usually the last 2 weeks of September when it really comes into focus, but like I said nothing is guaranteed yet, we've seen September collapses before. -M

And they all leave a mark. Fingers always crossed!

Mookie Betts becomes the first Red Sox player ever to put up consecutive 20/20 seasons (20 HR + 20 SB) and only the second Red Sox player all time to have more than one such season in a career.

Baseball Footnote History September 14th, 1980On September 14, 1990 father and son hit back to back home runs in a game against the California Angels; this is the only time in major league history that this has happened. I'm referring to Ken Griffey Sr. and his son Junior, who is Ken Griffey Jr. that performed this historic feat of back to back home runs. 37th Anniversary of this feat. YouTube

NFL Thursday night games are consistently sh*t End this charade already Doesn't matter what day of the week it is, if it's Prime Time and the Bengals are playing it's going to be sh*t. It's not that they need to change the day they have games or get rid of Thursday games, they just need not to schedule the Bengals for their prime time games. Last Thursday's Chiefs/Patriots game was actually a decent game to watch (unless you were a Pats fan) but all too often on Thursdays the League schedules division games between teams having a bad year and end up being the 3rd and 4th place teams instead of contenders as expected before the season, or feature teams like the Bengals who are shrinking violets when the lights shine on them no matter what day they play. -M

As the season gets into swing and these teams only have 2-3 days to game plan between Monday and Thursday, it seems like these Thursday games are consistently stinkers.

Kinda weird watching a Steelers game on FOX. Seems like they rarely get aired that way here.

Carmelo Anthony to the OKC Thunder to join Russell Westbrook, Paul George, and the rest of the Thunder. Thunder gave up C Enes Kanter, F Doug McDermott, and a 2nd Round Pick from Chicago.
Crazy!
