Why no love for golf? My Dad was an avid golfer and watched on TV all the time. I used to golf with him now and then, but I'm a very poor golfer and it's really expensive so I can't afford to get better. Also I HATE hot weather so I will only play in the late fall or early spring. As to televised golf...I'd rather watch paint dry.

The Alliance of American Football is starting next month: aaf.comAnd isn't the XFL debuting this year, too? Could get crowded. I'm surprised the XFL is returning. Vince McMahon is an excellent wrestling promoter, but outside wrestling (WBF, boxing, movies), it's either been failure or moderate success. The XFL failed once. Why would it work again? I could be wrong.

I heard a lot of criticism about XFL during its one and only season. I could be wrong, but I can't imagine there's an appetite for it now.
I have heard of something called the USFL. There is a book about it. I'll have to read up on it.

I'll be in Atlanta on the 3rd of February and most of my college friends ... are not football friends and I'm not watching the Super Bowl when the New England takes on the Los Angeles Rams.

With the Superbowl match up set as New England vs. Los Angeles, it will be the first time since 1969 that the teams facing off in the Super Bowl and the World Series hail from the same cities during the same season's championship.

PS Can’t think of another year a city had three champions in three sports, but it must have happened. PPS Detroit in 1935.

Rivera, Martinez, Halladay, and Mussina in BASEBALL HALL OF FAMECloser Mariano Rivera, designated hitter Edgar Martinez and starting pitchers Roy Halladay and Mike Mussina will be the newest members of the Baseball Hall of Fame. Rivera became the first player to be unanimously voted into the Hall, appearing on all 425 ballots. I was thrilled to see EDGAR making it in with a 85 percent of the vote. Mariano Rivera -- 100% of the votes Halladay -- 85% of the votes. Mussina --76% of the votes.

So the Super Bowl is on. 4th quarter just started, and it's still 3-3. Both teams are playing like they don't want to go to the White House.

That was one of the most boring Super Bowls I can remember. The Rams' offense just seemed to fall apart under pressure, especially quarterback Jared Goff, although their defense did play very well, I thought. Still, the Patriots hardly gave a stellar performance either. I can appreciate good defensive football as much as the next guy, but I definitely could've done with a bit more action and excitement. But worse than that...Maroon 5. I mean, I'm really not a fan of the band, although I will admit that they've got some mildly diverting and reasonably catchy earworms in their back catalogue. But their performance just seemed really, really lacklustre and uninspired. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I assume that the "adoring fans" at Super Bowl half time shows are all just paid actors, right? I mean, they don't actually let some of the audience down onto the pitch during the half time show, do they?

And, yes, I'm sure the "fans" are either paid to be down there acting like idiots, or more probably, pay to do so.

Defense ruled the Super Bowl and thus made it boring. Belichek is a defensive genius and made that team anemic for the entire game. The plan worked. I thought the key play of the entire game was the 4th quarter interception by the Pats when the Rams were driving down the field.
