Following opening day my fantasy baseball team is in first place. I proposed we just call the season good at this point. Just have your players strike and then lock them out. Season over, you win.

Sox project to 0-162. Another lost season. Mariners project to 162-0. World Series champs for 2019. Don't forget Tim Beckham projects to hit .583 with 162 Homers and 270 RBIs... clearly if that happens they will go 162-0!

I just got an email from a dear friend that follows Baseball and he told me that Bryce Harper is getting paid $500,000 per game and I just find this NUTS ... is this true? His new contract was for 13 years totaling $330 million, which works out to a little over $25 million per season of the contract on average (but there are signing bonuses, deferred money to deal with and the contract is front loaded so he gets more per season earlier in the contract and less per season later in the contract. But using $25 million as an average and breaking it down over 162 games, it's roughly $157,000 per game, not $500K. Now when Mike Trout's new contract kicks on next year, he will be making roughly $222K per game. -M

14% of the games played so far; Seattle Mariners are 9-2 and playing .800 (.818) ball and I really surprised of how well they are playing these days.

It figures that the home opener was a wash...because I had tickets for the first time ever. Still that awards ceremony was amazing even if the game was a let down; I don't know if they televised it but there was a video of Yaz reading a very Langston Hughes inspired poem, "I am Fenway Park" to some really amazing video clips that nearly brought me to tears. I seriously want to try and track down the exact words because it was a perfect summation of everything I love about the game.
