Does Alan Moore own LOEG, or does DC have the rights to it? Moore owns the rights. After the initial 6 issue LOEG, he took the property to Top Shelf and Knockabout. I believe DC holds the publication rights to the material Moore did under the Wildstorm/ABC imprint. They can keep it in print and he cannot republish it elsewhere, but since most of the characters themselves are in the public domain, Moore can continue to publish new stories featuring them elsewhere. Current editions of the 3 LoEG minis done under ABC are published under the Vertigo imprint by DC, not by Moore. So Moore owns the series, but DC continues to have the publication rights to the material done for them. -M

I think DC bought Wildstorm A. to get Jim Lee, B. to gain market share, and C. to gain IP's, esp LOEG

I think DC bought Wildstorm A. to get Jim Lee, B. to gain market share, and C. to gain IP's, esp LOEG League wasn't published until after DC acquired Wildstorm, so I don't think they were trying to acquire that IP, especially since all the characters in it were in the public domain. Moore's deal with Jim Lee was in place, yes, and Moore agreed to fulfill his contact with Lee after Lee sold Wildstom to DC, but Moore had an out clause which would have been the end of the ABC line before it started. DC couldn't acquire that IP, because it wasn't Lee's to sell and it wasn't guaranteed Moore would go forward with the projects when the deal went down. -M

Moore wasn't happy when they did the " Before Watchmen " Mini's , I could only imagine he's beside himself as Dc rolls his creation into the DC proper Universe.

That's why they were able to take the later volumes with them when Moore's Wildstorm contracts expired and ABC was wrapped up.

This is more of a rhetorical question, but since Marvel managed to get permission to use Black Sabbath's song Iron Man in their Iron Man movies, I wonder why they didn't use Alice Cooper's Black Widow for that character in one of the Avengers movies?

^^ I dunno, but I’m looking forward to the long-awaited Magneto and Titanium Man spin-off movie and hearing them use the Wings song in the soundtrack.

Will the Justice League soundtrack include Donovan?
"Superman or Green Lantern ain't got a-nothin' on me..."

Wasn't there some unpleasantness between Marvel and Cooper over collection/trade of the Last Temptation. I know it eventually gotten taken over to Dark Horse for a new edition of the trade and I seem to remember some rumblings over discord between Marvel and Cooper and Gaiman's camp around the time of the Marvel bankruptcy and how if affected Cooper and the collected editon of the Gaiman/Zulli mini. I could be wrong, it's been a long time. -M edit for addendum: I also seem to recall Cooper not letting them reprint the story form Marvel Premiere #50 after that at some point too, but again fuzzy memory could be off.

Will the Justice League soundtrack include Donovan? "Superman or Green Lantern ain't got a-nothin' on me..." Only if the Kinks turn up for the next Captain America appearance. I still think the next Avengers movie should have everyone sitting around singing, "When Captain America throws his mighty shield..."

Is there a thread about the depictions of real life people in comics (celebrities, political figures, etc)? I may be recalling the old board as I can't find it with the search function.
