^^^^^ There's also a period in the 70s where Fawcett is listed on the cover of Archie Comics. I think this may have been a printing arrangement, not something where they were involved editorially. Fawcett had its own distribution system. They may have been distributing the Archie line during that period.
Cei-U! I summon the possible explanation!

I feel like I should know this but what record is Spawn breaking right now? What was the previous record for an independent comics outside of Marvel and DC?

I feel like I should know this but what record is Spawn breaking right now? What was the previous record for an independent comics outside of Marvel and DC? It's only 850 issues behind four color? Ok, so, you're not phrasing the question exactly right. "Independent" is irrelevant, and "independent" has not always meant non-Marvel or DC. Marvel was a lot more of an independent operation then Dell or Fawcett in the '50s. Spawn has published the most issues of a creator owned title, beating out Cerebus. Cerebus ended at 300, so Spawn musta just hit 301. Of course, Dave Sim actually wrote, drew, and gave a shit about the whole run of Cerebus, while the vasssst majority of Spawn was work for hire. Cerebus - for better or for worse - was a passion project, Spawn was a business venture. These are in no way comparable.

Yes thanks ^ that makes sense and thank you for clearing up my question.
How about this one...why is Adam Legend of the Blue Marvel #1 an issue that is worth so much? It ran 3 issues right? Was it low print and a great story? Is there something I’m missing? It looks intriguing but not $100 intriguing.

I'll bump with yet another question (I'm an inquisitive little fella)
Is there a definitive list of Marvel comics that had the "still 15 cents" circle logo? I am just working on obtaining them all and have been using Mikes Amazing World to reference covers from the time period so I think I have them all but just wonder if someone else has compiled such a list. Here is what I have:
Avengers 92 Daredevil 80 My Love 13 Thor 192 Two Gun Kid 100 Amazing Spider-Man 101 Captain America #142 Fantastic Four 115 Hulk 144 Iron Man 42 Sub Mariner 42

Two quick questions:
Do we know whose idea it was to give Spider-Man a 'spidey-sense' and why? For that particular ability doesn't spring to mind first whenever I think of spiders....
When was the first time Ben Grimm was referred to as 'the ever-lovin' blue-eyed Thing'?

The first Moon Knight solo series from 1980 by Doug Moench and Bill Sienkiewicz.

Marvel Preview #21 is also a decent place, or Marvel Spotlight #28 & 29. You can also star wit Hulk Magazine #11, with Gene Colan on art, and Kevitch taking over soon after.
Moon Knight #1 starts you with an origin; but, he's developed across Marvel Spotlight, the Hulk Mag back-up stories, MP 21, and then the MK series.

That was great run until about 35.

I have read a lot of solo Moon Knight stuff outside of the Essential Moon Knight vol. 1 TPB, so I can offer on opinion on that. Bill Sienkiewicz starts on art with Hulk Magazine #13. I think it's worthwhile to start there, rather than waiting until MK #1 because it's same creative team. To me, the art is the big draw. Sienkiewicz actually started out with a Neal Adams style before going to his more freewheeling style.

Spider Sense. Short answer - Steve Ditko. More detailed explanation: link
Thing: Short answer - FF #35. More detailed explanation: link Thanks. Great look behind the scenes with Ditko and Lee, goes to show necessity is still the mother of invention (and creation). I thought the colorful description of Ben would've been unveiled more compactly instead of being slowly drawn together in that fashion, great tracing of that lineage.

...When was the first time Ben Grimm was referred to as 'the ever-lovin' blue-eyed Thing'? ...Thing: Short answer - FF #35. More detailed explanation: link The "ever-lovin', blue-eyed Thing" epithet appeared for the first time on the cover of Strange Tales #126, which was on sale at the same time as Fantastic Four #32...predating FF #35 and all the other issues Brian Cronin mentions in his column in the link Michael provided (perhaps Cronin was just researching occasions when characters referred to Ben as such within a story). Anyway, Marvel had referred to Ben as "blue-eyed" in a special announcements some months earlier...and when Ben became the Torch's co-star in Strange Tales he was referred to as "ever-lovin' Thing" in the interior masthead and on some ST covers. But the two epithets were put together, to great effect, on the cover of ST #126 !
