I got the single issues for Starman.. maybe 2 years ago...e-bay lot that was around $75 for the whole run (a bit under $1 an issue)... I think it was a little cheaper than the trades, and I like having the comics better anyway Lol ... so I look at Starman on ebay out of curiosity, and of course on the first page both lots are #1-45 with the cost averaging less than a $1 each. If only it weren't the second half of the series I needed. I guess I'll look some more when I get home tonight. Edit: Anyone read the Roger Stern 1988 series of the same name?

I have an issue or two, but I haven't got the whole thing. I think that series was pretty much completely ignored until Robinson did something with him.

Were any of the British Spider-Man stories printed in Spider-Man Weekly and the other myriad of title names the series had overseas original? Some of the covers (ok, most of the covers) look very cool even if they are just modifications of the originals. I am interested in some but would be even more so if there were some hidden content that was only printed across the pond, as it were.

who the heck does a Nu Wave song that I think is called "Girls" (it's in the refrain quite a bit).
my google-fu has failed me, since the best it comes up with is the Beastie Boys song. .(no, it's not that).
it's early Nu Wave.. lots of keyboards.

Certainly, the UK Spidey comics that I read as a kid in the late '70s and early '80s, in titles like Spider-Man Weekly and Super Spider-Man, were all black & white reprints of the U.S. stuff. tingramretro could probably answer this question more definitively. EDIT: I still have a nice stack of slightly dog-eared, late '70s copies of Super Spider-Man that I treasure.

Probably not the one you're thinking of, since it's an early '80s old school hip hop record, rather than New Wave, but the first thing that jumped into my head, based on your description, was "Girls" by The Egyptian Lover...

We're definitely not talking about "Girls, Girls, Girls" by Mötley Crüe are we?

I should probably know this but I'm blanking. the only thinking that I can think of is maybe "Girls On Film" by Duran Duran. Fun comics-related fact: The cover of Duran Duran's album Rio was done by Patrick Nagel. Neil Gaiman later created a character named Desire in his Sandman series, who was drawn to strongly resemble a Nagel print. Prior to Sandman, Gaiman rocketed to superstardom after writing a biography of Duran Duran.

^ great Oingo Boingo song (and Duran Duran), but that's not it either we heard it in a restaurant, and now it's making me crazy. the refrain is something like: Girls! they got you where they really want you (or something like this) Girls! da da da da da da da da da ( no idea of words. . LOL). so helpful, I know!

That is an absolutely atrocious Rube Goldberg contrapulation of nearly every worst excess of the 80s, with over-melodramatic self-indulgent "rapping" that has less artistic merit than the writing of ingredients on a bubblegum wrapper. Unfortunately, being young in the 80s, that decade's music has unerasably imprinted itself on me. So I'm kinda digging the tune.

How about Little Girls by Oingo Boingo, @bert ? That song has some serious "holy crap what a sick group of freaks!" vibe going on. Almost as disturbing as Steely Dan. And yeah, i'm kind of digging that song too. Why can't I just like Coldplay or something like everyone else?
