Aw man.......
Great writer and editor. He served in the US Air Force, with the Air Police (or APes, as they are known, the Air Force version of the MPs) and worked for Warren both before and after his stints with Charlton. he was also an editor at DC, running their digest program. He then did freelance animation work for a variety of companies (and worked in the field when he left the Air Force, under Ralph Bakshi).
Cuti was a devotee of Wally Wood and worked as an assistant to him on Cannon and Sally Forth.
In later years, he was doing his own indie films, including adapting his underground sci-fi strip, Moonchild.
The E-Man stuff was brilliant, with Joe Staton.

Seeing reports on both Facebook and Twitter that comic book publisher Russ Cochran has passed away. Cochran was instrumental in bringing EC Comics to new generations of comics fans.

'yeah I just saw Robert Beerbohm repost the news form Russ's daughter. Sad day for comic, but his legacy will endure. -M

I've never actually read any of Cussler's books but I know my middle brother was a fan.
I did see the movie Sahara at some point. It was a reasonably entertaining trifle.

The attempt to adapt his Raise the Titanic bankrupted Lew Grade's ITC Entertainment. Cussler was one of those reliable airport sellers of thrillers. Every time we got a new one, it was on the bestseller lists. There was pulpy fun to be had. In later years, he had a sub-series, set around the early 20th Century, dealing with emerging technologies, like the submarine and airplane. He had a co-author on those; but, they got good reviews.

RIP James Lipton, longtime host of Inside the Actor's Studio. He was 93. In his memory and in honor of him I offer my favorite curse word... FUCK! He will be missed. I always hoped someone would be inspired by his example and do an Inside the Comic Creator's Studio type show, but I know the audience was too narrow for that to succeed on a network or streaming service. -M

The episode with Robin Williams about caused me to pass out from laughter. His style was easy to parody; but, he really got to the core of his subjects. With Christopher Reeve he illustrated how he played Superman and Clark Kent as distinct characters and rightly praised the skill in both. I saw, somewhere, a clip of him answering the famous 10 questions on a French tv show. I cannot find a clip, on Youtube.

RIP to Michael Bloomberg's pathetic, ego-driven vanity project of a presidential campaign.
My wife summed it up perfectly this morning when she said his campaign slogan was "I have lots of money. I'm here. Vote for me."

I have not confirmed these data, but it makes a great story. Have I mentioned I'm sick and damn tired of super-rich old white guys?

Oh, I thought something that had actually lived had died, whew! I always open this thread thinking, who has died now. The thing is, haven't you all/they all made the 'process' so incredibly long and expensive that Billionaires are going to see themselves as having an opportunity?
