I've heard MF was a kind of dedicated sleazebag, but from what I've seen he could be a surprisingly decent penciller. I don't think those two things are mutually exclusive--and remember, he was also a publisher .
Dollar-for-dollar (actually less) nothing gave me more entertainment in college than Fass's UFO magazines from the used book store.

TwoMorrows is a fantastic publisher, and I wish I could afford EVERY book/magazine they put out. The passion in their magazines is dripping off the page!

I have BI on regular order at my comic store.
Alter Ego is good, but the content doesn't interest me in every issue. I am trying to track down the current issue (Steve Ditko Special).
I'd like to read the Jack Kirby Collector at some point.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, including a stupid one. I mean, I can say it's my opinion that flying unicorns inhabit clouds here in the UK. You can't stop me having that opinion, but it's a stupid one.
I'm on some private Facebook groups pertaining to comics. A post REALLY ANNOYED me earlier today. I had been posting about the Joker. And one user said, "It's been fashionable to like the Joker since Heath Ledger's performance."
What?!!! Are there really such idiots about?!!!!
I was born in 1980. As a kid, I loved the Joker. TV-AM showed the 60s series, and I looked forward to each appearance by Cesar Romero. I enjoyed Jack Nicholson's performance. But when I discovered comics, I grew to love the Joker. He's a colourful clown. A lot of people like him. It was also great when he showed up in other hero's books, e.g. Superman, Flash, etc.
To suggest that it's only been fashionable to like the Joker since Ledger's performance is, quite frankly, as idiotic as saying the Earth is flat. It has zero credibility!
Had the Joker been a Z-list villain prior to Ledger's performance, and since that film had become popular, this Facebook user might have a point.
But the popularity of the Joker predates Ledger by DECADES.
So, yes, people are entitled to a stupid opinion. I haven't had a response back on this FB page, but I cannot let such stupidity go unanswered. Just like I wouldn't let it go unchallenged if a friend told me he was 100% convinced the world was flat.

You have to give some people grace for their comments. For all we know, he might be 19 years old and lacks experience with the genre. Also, he mistakenly speaks for everyone instead of just for himself.

That is true. One shouldn't get annoyed about comics and comic movies, but I got angry seeing such a comment because it is so beyond reality, that it exists in another universe.
It's the term "fashionable" that I objected to. It was fashionable to have a mullet in the 80s. Many did (I didn't). I don't see anything fashionable in liking a colourful supervillain who has been around many, many decades.

He was pretentious using " fashionable", Unless he went out and did a survey.

I think that's the word that irked me. Might have felt differently if he'd simply posted, "People like the Joker since Ledger's portrayal." I'd still disagree as I think the Joker's popularity goes back to the early 40s (didn't he debut in 1940 or 1941?).
"Fashionable" was the word that got me into a rage.

The Joker has consistently been Batman's number one villain since his debut in Batman #1. He's one of the few that never disappeared through all the permutations of the main character. He's literally appeared in over 500 more comic issues than the next competitor (Catwoman).

And one user said, "It's been fashionable to like the Joker since Heath Ledger's performance." I don’t know the context, but as far as people even vaguely aware of what goes on in comics go, that statement is downright silly. I even get the impression that fans of the Batman cartoons love Mark Hamill’s Joker just as much as Ledger’s. Perhaps the poster meant that for the public at large, those who never read comics or watch Batman shows apart from big budget movies, Ledger’s performance was the one that first made the Joker character be taken seriously as a thespian endeavour. But I’m probably cutting them too much slack.

You could be right. I get a few idiots in my cab (95% are great), so the tolerance for idiocy is low, I'm afraid.
I posted a topic on Facebook years ago, praising deceased wrestler British Bulldog. Some tinpot clown posted a reply, "I bet you didn't care about him when he was alive." Erm, I followed his career and cheered for him *while* he was alive and in his prime. What is wrong with people?
I find the conversation here sensible even when we disagree. Social media seems to attract some idiots, like a guy who said the Royal Navy should be privatised. Where do these people come from?

I think that's the first time I've been on the CBR main-site since Greg Hatcher left. That site is a disaster. And I'm not talking content (necessarily). The intrusive ads and layout make it unusable.

You're right, but that seems to be the case with 95% of websites I visit, Slam.
I miss the days of static ads - or just one pop-up. I went on one US news site via my iPhone, but after what felt like several dozen pop-ups, I thought, 'Screw it, you don't want me to read the article. I'm gone.'
