In Oregon I seem to get a lot of Angry Orchard cider even though it's from NY... my favorite is the pear, it's 5% I used to get something with a bulldog on the label in Washington and Alaska, but in Canada I like Growers which is 7%, unless I can get home-brew from Lasqueti.

I like Angry Orchard as well, although I'm not a big fan of the pear (it's OK, IMO) or the rose. They make a seasonal variety for fall and winter called Cinnful Apple that is very good, but it is only available, at least in my area, as part of a sampler pack, while I would want to buy it by the case.

This is not aimed specifically at the folks who inhabit this forum, as I see and/or hear it over the place, but it drives me crazy when people use the word "adaption" instead of the correct "adaptation."

It irks me!

It irks me! For what it's worth, I used to use the word "adaption" in speech, despite the fact that I wrote it "adaptation", for years -- right from when I was a kid. This was mainly because, as a child, I read the word "adaptation" as "adaption". I was probably in my 20s before I began pronouncing it "adaptation". That said, adaption is a real word and is entirely interchangeable with adaptation. Although adaptation is by far the more common word.

I found the 'Rose' horrid, it came in a variety pack. Have to watch for Cinnful...

It irks me! That was me too, I did post: "I don't think adaption comics are very appealing", but it wasn't here it was at another place about movies. Now I can recognize that it just sounds wrong. I guess I had better go a few rounds with The Super-Adaptoid (can I adopt The Mimic to help me?)

I get tired of cider pretty quick. But once in a while it’s great. I like pear cider as the bottom half of a Black and Tan. The Cinful is good. If you want to make your own just put a shot of cinnamon schnapps (or cinnamon whiskey) in with your regular cider.

If I buy a case of cider, it might take me three months to get through it. I'll give the shot of cinnamon schnapps a try, as I currently have some Angry Orchard in the fridge right now and wouldn't mind giving it a little kick. Thanks for the suggestion!

I love cider but I avoid Angry Orchard unless they have a particularly fascinating flavor. Not that there's anything wrong with the cider or the company; I just have too much anger in my life and don't want to have the word "Angry" in front of my eyes any more than I have to.
I like Square Mile cider - Original, Hopped and Rose flavors; Wyder's Pear and Prickly Pineapple flavors; Stella Artois Cidre, Portand Cider Co's Kinda Dry flavor, and Magner's Irish cider when I can find it.

I'll be on the lookout for some of those. Unfortunately, there isn't a wide range of cider in PA, so besides the AO, I usually only see Redd's (which is horrible) and sometimes Woodchuck (but I haven't seen that around recently). Another beverage that I am fond of id alcoholic ginger beer. I discovered it at an English-style pub in Williamsport, PA about a block away from the old headquarters for Grit Magazine, but it's not easy to find in Pittsburgh and it is a little pricy.

Saw Toronto's Fan-Expo covered on the news today... guess what it's all about? Costumes. At least according to the news. "There I said it" like forty years ago! One guy with rubber ears at a sf convention in 1979 and all the media zooms in on that guy ignoring all the great authors and artists. Actually they did a nice job saying positive things about costuming, but what a stereotypical way to cover such events to focus solely on that with just one brief flash of someone signing books (so fast I have no idea what book it might be).

Square Mile and Portland Cider are located here in Oregon but Wyder's is from Vermont and Stella Artois is from Baldwinsville NY (near Syracuse), so you're actually closer to the source on those. The alcoholic ginger beer sounds interesting. Is it actually fermented ginger juice or is it regular ginger beer with alcohol added?

Rob Allen - the alcoholic ginger beer I prefer, which is Crabbie's, is from the UK and is fermented, not ginger-flavored beer. It's a little pricy since it is imported, but it's the real thing. Slam_Bradley - I gave your suggestion a try this weekend, having picked up a bottle of Yukon Jack Wicked Hot cinnamon whiskey to put in my cider. All I can say to you is "Thanks, and cheers!"

The Last Crusade is the best Indiana Jones movie.
There I said it.
