I have just discovered Spotify. Shame! Shame! Shame! I’m old. I must be really old, since I still use Pandora. My daughters and even my wife are on the Spotify bandwagon, however, but I'm resisting since I already have my Pandora account set up just as I want it and don't want to have to start over somewhere else. Same here. I have reached the age where I dread changing to yet another new technology or changing how I access entertainment, or when our computers get updated at work.

I have just discovered Spotify. Shame! Shame! Shame! I’m old. I'm listening to it right now. It's great to stream without paying at all. It's not so great if you're a musician or songwriter. Just sayin'. EDIT: Full disclosure, I do use Spotify myself on occasion. But I try hard to use it as infrequently as I can and I always buy my music on physical formats, which have a much better royalty return for the artists/songwriters.

I heard that Spotify was getting sued for that reason. But it was a year or so ago. I’m not sure where it ended.

I must ruefully admit that I don’t even know what Pandora is! Before Spotify, the most technological I got was buying albums on iTunes.

My sons need every penny they get from Spotify. Please join! Are you joking or do your sons get money from Spotify ? Every time one of their band’s songs is played. It’s minimal, but every penny is helpful.

I must be the really old man of the group. Use Accuradio during work and watch Youtube videos on my cell. Other than that for me it's the ol' FM over the air car radio driving to/from work and actually purchasing CD's of music I like for my listening pleasure. Am I an out of touch antique or what?

I've been using Spotify for probably 3 years now. It has turned me onto some albums and musicians I like a lot, and i usually end up ordering a physical copy of the music.

I feel what you're saying, but Spotify and Pandora have both turned me on to musicians that I'd never have come across otherwise. And in turn that makes it far more likely that I'll buy from them or see them in concert. I certainly understand that it's a double edged sword. But there dozens of bands I've become fans of because of the services.

About 50% more or less ... that I enjoy music from YouTube videos on my PC and I do that about 30-60 minutes a day. You are not alone here.

I can't even imagine listening to over-the-air radio. Back when that was largely the only option I'd set it to NPR and it wouldn't move. The music most radio stations play holds zero interest for me. I do have satellite radio in both my vehicles, but that's a different critter. l still buy vinyl, but I think the last CD I bought was in 2010.

Believe me, you don't want to listen to over air radio very much. Constantly talking over beginning and endings of songs. Endlessly repeating the same songs over and over within a day along side the same repeating commercials. I have the car radio tuned to 4 different "oldies/classic" and a classical music station which I will listen to only during my relatively short 20-30 minute work drives. Normally I play CD's but when one ends I will usually allow the radio to finish out the drive. If I had to listen for more than a few minutes at a time I might actually end up with brain damage and bleeding from my ears...
