Welcome back, sabongero. Sorry to hear you've had such a rough time. Hopefully your recovery will go from strength to strength.

impulse, Roquefort Raider, brutalis, MechaGodzilla, Farrar, Cei-U!, Slam_Bradley, Icctrombone, hondobrode, and Confessor thanks for the welcome back return here and well wishes at CCF. As for the lawsuit right now it's ongoing at that will take years, unfortunately as justice in real life is slower than a turtle and not as quick as a one-hour episode of Law and Order and other police procedural television shows. Right now I'm just appreciative to be breathing and trying to have a normal life. And enjoying reading about comic books once more here at CCF.

Thank God you did survive. Yikes ! Good point. Since I was underneath the vehicle and he ran me over at an angle, if he was off by a few inches, he would have crushed the major organs in my body, and I wouldn't be posting here anymore. So we should all just be thankful for what we have and our health. Well since we are all CCF members and discussing classic and older comic books, the majority of us have read those comic books when we were much younger so a lot of us aren't young kids anymore. So all is well, and I've been out of touch with comic books for a while that I didn't know that Superman and Dr. Manhattan have been building up to slugfest for over a year now, in order to "correct/retcon" the DC Universe.

Have a initial phone interview for a new job today at noon. I'm looking at making (hopefully) just one final move to set myself up for the next 15 years or so until retirement. This company is close to my house (8 miles or so), has a global footprint, and supports the industries I've worked in for the past 14 years. I'm banking on my experience with their type of products and industries worked with as a differentiator to someone else who might need more ramp-up time on the products, terminology, etc.
My current situation, while not bad, isn't long term. I work at a coal-fired electricity-generation plant, and we figure we only have about 5-7 years of life before we are shut down, either from environmentalists' pressure or because we cease to be cost-effective in light of natural gas-fired plants.
If I do change my employers, I'll likely have to give up my remote work schedule, but it would be worth it to have a job that will likely exist in a decade. My commute would cut in half both time and distance-wise, and I wouldn't have to pay tolls like I do on the 2-3 days I currently go to the office now, which would save me about $6 to $8.50 per week.

Best of luck with your interview oh Great Captain! Always difficult planning for the long term work goals. When i was doing this around 1 30 years ago the plan was to eventually working my way into a hospital where the risk of closure is almost non-existent with the security of knowing if it works out properly that it would be my "last job" until retirement. Of course NOTHING is ever for certain but we can hope for the best. Keep you in my thoughts and prayers good sir!!!

Best of luck with the interview Cap !
I recently made a change.
My 3M rep called me a few months back to congratulate me on a few really big orders.
I wasn't aware of them and attempted to look them up in our system.
They weren't there and I confirmed according to 3M that they were in fact my customers and the sale went through my company.
I asked my manager about it and he claimed he knew nothing about it and would get an answer for me. We're talking $ 80K +.
Coincidentally, I had just gotten approached by a recruiter about a sales position with SelectQuote. I called him back to dig deeper into the company and position.
Talking with my manager again, he asked what he could do it keep me. I had the # 1 territory in the region out of 15. More money ? Nope. What happened to that $ 80K ? No answer. That was 2 accounts out of 800+. I figure where there's smoke there's fire, so they probably did closer to $ 250K. I'll never know.
So, I got re-licensed for health, and am getting ready to go into work shortly for my final classroom exam, and will be getting on the phones next week returning calls to seniors inquiring about Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplements.
SelectQuote is the largest broker in the country and the # 1 seller of term life and the above Medicare products. I think finally I've found a company that shoots straight that I can stay with til I retire.
Getting into a good company is like dating : They all have a pitch and look good but over time you find out more of reality.
Anyway, good luck again with your interview Captain, and hopefully things work out for you !

Thanks to all for the well-wishes. It went about as I expected, as I've done these before. They asked why I want to work for the company, what kind of experience I have, etc.; they also asked a couple of "describe a time where you..." questions, which is usually saved for the face-to-face interview with the actual hiring manager.
My only frustration with the process was that they asked me for my salary requirements, and they couldn't continue with the phone screening until I gave them a number. I pressed them on it, and they let me give a range, which I wasn't thrilled with but it was better than having to give them a specific number.
Any way, they said they would pass my phonescreen responses and my resume along to the hiring manager, and that I should hear something within the next couple of weeks. I have a friend who works there and she said they tend to be a little on the slow side, so I am not anticipating hearing anything for up to a month, but they may surprise me.

"why I want to work for the company" I actually answered that bluntly "because I need a job" once. To be honest I was not even sure about turning up for the interview having had second thoughts and big problems getting to it, so I was sabotaging. May the shingle you land on stay afloat the longest Captain!

Good luck Cap!
An odd thought that went thru my mind the other day - the names of countries and their adjective forms:
America, Canada, China - American, Canadan, Chinan.
Consistent, but doesn't look right. Let's try again.
Canada, China, America - Canadian, Chinian, Americian.
Still not looking right.
China, America, Canada - Chinese, Americese, Canadese.
The Englandic language is so inconsistent.

In Dutch, it's 'Chinees' and 'Canadees', but 'Amerikaans'. And I hope you'll get the job, Cap. sabongero, good to have you back on the forum! Glad you are pulling through after sustaining such a horrid injury! Hope you'll heal up fine.
