That long wait would be about typical for Canada these days, maybe even a best case full speed scenario. Stuff like that makes me think of The Kinks' song Tired Of Waiting, only you imagine someone getting worse while they wait. I do hope it is smooth sailing ahead for you Kurt, you deserve it!

So with 2020 coming up and this decade wrapping up, I thought I'd have a little fun and compile a Top 100 of my favourite charting songs of the 2010s, and it's been tough! I was going over the music charts and up until 2016 I could manage, but I found I barely recognize any of the songs in even the overall top 30s of 2017 and 2018. I know most of the artists, I just don't recall ever hearing any of these songs. I haven't stopped listening to music, I haven't stopped listening to current, new music, but most of what's on the charts seems to fly under my radar. I'm 32 years old.

I may hear an occasional "current/new" song that catches my attention but most of it I can totally ignore as I grew up in the 70's/80's and hearing greats from the 40/50/60's alongside the "new" stuff. My car radio doesn't have a current top hits station programmed on it thank you kindly! I likely hear and know more current country western music than any others.

I'm 46 and the only reason I know anything about music released in the past decade is because my older daughter, who is almost 14, listens to some of it (although she is far more into musicals and listens to those soundtracks constantly). She'll mention some "artist" (and I use that term very loosely in most cases) and I'll have no idea who she's talking about. Of course, she laughs at my steady diet of 80's alternative like The Smiths, The Cure, and Echo and The Bunnymen along with classic rock like The Who, AC/DC, and David Bowie. About the only music we agree on is Queen and Panic! at the Disco.

I could easily come up with at least a hundred albums from 2010-2019 that I love with commensurate tracks off them. But very few of them would have charted anywhere. There's tons of great music out there. But what I'm interested in generally doesn't correspond with what the general public is interested in.

I'd certainly be down to see that list Slam, I know I personally find it difficult to find new bands and artists and with my favorites from yester year either dying off or retiring it's only becoming harder.

Wow. Great discussion. Personally I still gravitate to music from 1975-1990. Basically high school years thru college and early marriage. I know some music from when my daughters were teens in the 2000s. And like Slam I do listen to some newer stuff but it's not mainstream and what is popular.

I listen to about 2-3 hours of YouTube music a week and most of the music that I enjoy is from the 70's to the early 90's and none of it ... is after the mid-90's and today.

I may see what I can do. I just kind of buzzed through my Spotify starred list and jotted down 42 albums from 2010 - 2019 that I have tracks from (sometimes multiple tracks) or just consider good albums. The vast majority of that is Americana/Alt-country/Roots so if that's not your thing...I'll not be of much help. I do listen to a lot of Jazz and Blues but it does tend to skew older. At one point I was listening to a fair bit of retro-soul (Eli "Paperboy" Reed, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears) but I kind of lost sight of that scene over the last six or seven years...I probably should change that. I'll see if I can come up with a reasonable way to do something that's not horribly unwieldy and put it on the Music Notes thread.

Well, that was anti-climactic.
They delivered the new manual wheelchair this afternoon. Then they took it away again. It was the right height and the right width but the back wheels were huge, making them even more of an obstacle than the ones on the old chair. As is, the chair is unusable. Fortunately, they can swap them out for smaller ones. It's just going to take an additional couple of weeks.
Sigh. Why is it so flipping hard for these companies to get it right the first time?
Cei-U! I summon the frustration!

Sorry about the additional wait. This reminds me of a story I heard one time. An interviewer asked Billy Joel how he felt being a genius , Billy responded by saying he wasn't a genius. He said he was just competent . And the world is used to incompetence, so anyone who does what they're supposed to do, is given extra praise. When things go correctly without a hitch, we consider it a special moment.

Well that sucks. And not in a fun way. Here's hoping that they get the right one to you soon.
