... there a lot of soft porn-related advertising on the r**dcomicsonline website! (...) I've used the site occasionally, mainly for the same reason as you - to look for images of covers or panels (or maybe to preview something I'm thinking of buying), but yeah, only very sparingly, precisely because of the aggressive and intrusive ads (pop-ups/pop unders, page-covering ads, page redirects...), and they're not just for the dodgy porn and iffy dating/find-a-buxom-bride sites, but also a lot of gambling and gaming content as well. Not worth the trouble, usually.

soft porn-related advertising on the r**dcomicsonline website! I was just browsing it on my laptop, trying to find some cool page scans for today's Classic Comics Christmas, when my wife walked behind me and saw my screen crammed with ads for X-Rated video games, nubile singles dating, and other scams featuring half naked women. Personally, I'm a guy that don't click bait on these ads and that dcomiconline website is not what I want to get into and I did not enter it at all. I have seen it many times and I do want to say this ... this site does generate a lot of ads and its boggles my mind here. I just wanted throw my 2 cents here.

I know that we're not supposed to mention illegal comic sites in the forum, and, as a moderator, I really should know better, but man, is there a lot of soft porn-related advertising on the r**dcomicsonline website! I was just browsing it on my laptop, trying to find some cool page scans for today's Classic Comics Christmas, when my wife walked behind me and saw my screen crammed with ads for X-Rated video games, nubile singles dating, and other scams featuring half naked women. First thing I knew about it was her voice coming from behind me, in a mock-annoyed and heavily sarcastic tone, saying, "enjoying looking at all those busty women in bikinis are you?" I hasitly explained that I was just looking for pictures....of comics! Pictures of comics! I went on to assure her that it was just a dodgy illegal Russian site, hence all the soft-porn style advertising. She's really very cool about that kind of thing anyway, and she thought it was funny to pretend to catch me out, so no worries. But it did make me think that it's probably not a website you'd want to browse in the workplace or out in public. Ha, this leads to an interesting tangent. While you expect less than upstanding ads on a site like that, it's a good example of how excessively pervasive and intrusive ads have become online. They're not only (very) annoying, a lot of times they are a mechanism for delivering malware and hijacks. It's kind of a chicken vs. egg scenario, but it's almost downright irresponsible to not use a pretty serious ad-blocking software pretty much all the time. I try to disable it on sites I like to support, for example, this one, but even then sometimes a bad one slips through. I'm not sure what the solution is as website owners also need to get paid, but until the benign stuff can be consistently separated from the malicious kind, I'm hesitant to not use ad and script blockers most of the time.

It could be worse guys, what if your wife/significant other sees ads for Chippendales when you are looking for Chip N' Dale comics? Good to know my firefox ad blocker (uBlock) add-on works so well... if I've ever been to that site (who can keep them all straight) I've never had ads like those. I have it turned off for proboards and a couple other legitimate sites.

So you just heard “The Christmas Shoes” again? That's a great song that makes me weep at times. I love you, my friend, but that is a horrifically bad song. When my wife, who is about as sentimental as they come, finds a song to be schamltzy drek, it has to be pretty awful, and even she won't sit through one playing of that one. On the topic of bad Christmas songs, I've managed to make it to December 22 without hearing "Dominick the Donkey" at all and only the opening 5 seconds of "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" just one time.

You're a good man, Cap. We will agree to disagree. As for the other songs, I love them all. Baby is cold outside gets better with every hearing. Especially, the older versions.

I listen to Christmas music every day while I'm delivering mail Always in my pocket without headphones as to not ignore my customers. I think the Wham " last Christmas" has gotten better over the years.

I think the Wham " last Christmas" has gotten better over the years. I'm not a big fan of Xmas pop, but I think "Last Christmas" is actually my favourite Christmas song of all. I play it in both my duos throughout December every year. "Happy Xmas (War is Over)" by John Lennon is a close second.

I listen to Christmas Music through YouTube and I play the songs that are truly special to me and I do this about 30 minutes a day.
