The last big con that I attended was the Baltimore show 3 years ago. I now go to small shows in New Jersey. It has similar bargains and usually no admission charge.

There were several smaller comic conventions with mostly local creators here in Phoenix the last several years but they all failed due to the time and places where they were held along with the cost/effort and many of the big name vendors/creators travel to the larger well known cons and have a tight schedule so not willing to participate in smaller venues. Several other types of conventions are beginning to hit it big here though. We have an anime convention in the fall, a Halloween convention in October last year and this year (by the same folks doing the Phoenix Comicon so they have the skills/revenue) and in late August a toy convention.

Thanks to the internet 100% of Americans think they sing well. When in reality 10% are capable.

I like to sing in the car when I'm alone, and I sing at church because I can blend in with better singers. Other than that, not happening. Thank goodness both of my girls take after their mother for musical ability. My wife plays multiple instruments and has a lovely alto voice, while my older daughter plays flute and is a soprano, while the younger one plays piano and trumpet and will probably wind up an alto like her mom.

My wife has a penchant for torturing me with random people covering great songs. Like celebrities doing karaoke or benefits or whatever. All those shows on TV of people butchering musicians' songs. I can't remember what was making my ears bleed last night, that she was listening to; thanks to beer. But I dunno how she does it. It's a sin that anyone even thinks they should record themselves singing a song like Purple Rain. Much less following through with it and confirming it never should have been done. /rant

Headed to the hospital this morning to do the pre-tests for my kidney stone procedure, which is scheduled for next Thursday. This has been a year filled with far too many hospital visits.

Anyone have any advice on switching property managers? I live overseas and have a house in the states. I was having a friend taking care of the tenants payments for me, but it's clear she's either too busy and/or to lazy with the amount of time it's taking per month to get things done...like deposit a check. So even though I got an discount for her service, I getting tired of having to text her a zillion times, deal with radio silence, and have the entire operation move at a snail's pace. Especially since I paid for a service.
When I go back to the bay area in a couple of months for visiting, I plan to get someone else. I'm just not sure the best way to go about switching. If I were to hire one company, do they then contact my friend/her company and work out the switching details? Never done this before so please excuse my ignorance.

Unexpected project tonight. One of my dealer friends was scheduled to buy out a store's toy stock this afternoon, but the store owner backed out at the last minute. The problem, my friend has 3 tables at the Cincinnati toy show to fill on Sunday, and needed stock desperately, so I am now boxing up a metric ton of vintage rpg books & supplements, puzzles, board games, aa few toys, etc. to get to him tomorrow which he will sell at the show on spec, so he fills his table, and I get a nice percentage of the sales. Whatever he doesn't sell, I'll sell to him at a bulk rate so he has stock for future shows. And the biggest upside is it will all be out of the house as it was all planned to go as part of the great culling anyways.

I was working with guys a year ago setting them up to do giant displays like this. So cool. It's vinyl that's rolled onto the side of the building. In some cases, like it appears to be here, it's designed to be applied with heat and literally melts into the structure.
