Let me know what is in there that's not in Graphic Ink...if it's not too much to ask. That's discouraging if there's a lot of overlap. Doctor Star #2 is sooooooo freakin' good. I don't actually have Graphic Ink, which is why I picked this one up. There are supposedly some covers and Cooke's first story form New Talent Showcase 19 that weren't in Graphic Ink (if I remember the solicitation I read correctly), but if I can find a table of content list for Graphic Ink I will gladly let you know for certain what's overlapped and what's new (I'd like to know to to decide if Graphic Ink is worth tracking down in addition to this). -M No problem. I can figger it out...I was just being lazy. If the only difference is a few covers and the NTS story it's not worth it to me to shell out for the new book.

Here's the Amazon blurb for DC Art volume with partial contents... it clocks in at 408 pages. Graphic Ink is 400 pages. this (if it works) is the content page from Graphic Ink (the NT Showcase 19 is in Graphic Ink btw) -M

Looks like it's probably just a few of the later covers then. I was thinking the NTS story was in the one I have. But it's been 18 months at least since I've taken it off the shelf.

Stopped by the local Half-Price Books last night and got the second and third I Hate Fairyland TPBs for the combined cost of just one new copy of either.

I finally managed to get a hold of a copy of Frankenstein Alive, Alive #4, Wrightson's last work before he passed. It sold out locally here and wasn't available for reorder from Diamond, so I got a copy from Lonestar when I was adding stuff to my order for the Avengers prose novel I won in their auction. I also added a copy of The Terrifics #2 which my shop got shorted and sold out at the other shops near here I checked.
I also stopped at Ollie's and found they had gotten a shipment of Marvel trades and hardcovers in, nowhere near as extensive as the DC buy they got at the end of last year, and the prices were nowhere near as good. I only picked up one Marvel hardcover, Starlin's Infinity Relativity, the second book in his infinitry trilogoy-I had books 1 and 3 but had only read #2 via the library. It was marked at $7.99 form it's $24.99 MSRP, so not a bad deal.

Any hardcover under $10 is a pretty good deal.

Just picked up the first volume of Touching Evil by Dan Dougherty in hardcover... Dan is collaborating ona new project with Dirk Manning that I am hyped for, and the preview art looked amazing, so I wanted to check out some of Dan's stuff for myself. The second volume to Touching Evil is currently up on Kickstarter, but i wanted to check out the first volume before I decided to back it. It's a supernatural thriller whose premise is that the protagonist is cursed, she kills anyone she touches who is evil. Dan's style is very noir and I am quite looking forward to diving into this is the next week or so. -M

Just picked up the Where We Live Benefit anthology for the Survivors in Las Vegas, curated by JH Williams III. $19.99 for over 300 pages of comics and all proceeds go to help the survivors of this past October's mass shooting in Vegas. The list of contributors is stunning, and all donated their time and work for this worthy cause. And there's just lots of good reading involved even if you don't care about any of that. -M

Finally managed to track down a copy of this book... I stumbled across the first issue in a bin at Half Price books years ago and have been seeking the rest ever since. It was self-published and never finished the story in single issues, but did so in the trade. Our local library had a copy of the trade, which I requested but the patron who borrowed it before me never returned/lost it and I have been looking for 4-5 years for a copy of the trade in the wild at shows or stores. Today I found one at the local HPB, which I wasn't planning on going to, but we were in the area and my wife asked me if I wanted to stop in and poke around while she went to another store in the plaza to check for something. McLeod is a black belt in kung fu, and his fight choreography is amazing and authentic, the pages are sheer beauty to behold. I also managed to snag another of the variants from Darwyn Cooke month form their back issue bin for a buck fifty (the Grayson cover) and found one of the Verotik issues of Frazetta's Death Dealer written by Glenn Danzig for $2.50 that I usually see selling for much more. -M

The content is not necessarily modern, but they were published recently: The first two were bought from Lone Star on eBay to bulk up an order and qualify for free shipping, the last one was purchased in the wild, as I was recently on a visit to relatives in Oregon, and chanced upon it at the checkout line in WalMart.
