Batman Episodes (109) … Third SeasonThe Ogg Couple Original Air DatesDecember 21, 1967 Major VillainsVincent Price as Egghead and Anne Baxter as Olga, Queen of the Cossacks Guest StarsHardly worth mentioning here Show Review Here ...Well, this is a very poor show to begin with Olga and Egghead off to steal Silver Scimitar of Taras Bulbul and the Golden Egg of Ogg and later on steal Caviar from the from the Czar of Samarkand. Said fish eggs are worth two hundred bucks an ounce. Here's the picture of them stealing the caviar from Gotham City National Bank. Crimes Number 1 and 2 Silver Scimitar and the Golden Egg of Ogg At first, Olga yanks out the scimitar (which only comes loose after Egghead applies some Egg of Ogg Acid), while Egghead keeps the golden egg that he steals and take it back to their hideout. Crime Number 3At their hideout, Olga and Egghead discuss plans while the Cossacks do their victory dance. Egghead intends to steal lots of things to serve as Olga’s dowry so they can be married. His first target: a shipment of five hundred pounds of caviar that was a gift to the good people of Gotham City from the Czar of Samarkand. When, Olga managed to steal and left Egghead behind and Batgirl dealt with him and knowing how rotten Egghead is Batgirl agrees to take Egghead to his hideout and the tables turned on Batgirl despite her amazing abilities. Batman and Robin arrive at the bank, where the bank manager fills them in. They head over in time to see Batgirl tied up and dancing the saber dance, which involves the Cossacks attacking her with sabers, and Batgirl using Yvonne Craig’s dance training to keep from being impaled. Batgirl Danced her way to possible death! ... and this part of the 30 minutes program is only part worth watching! More Bat-Fight (short one) ensue, but Olga and Egghead dump the still-bound Batgirl in the cold caviar, and they use the distraction of our heroes rescuing her to make their escape. And, thankfully the Caviar is save along with other things that both Olga and Egghead had stolen! ... And, Batman had O'Hara surrounded the building so that they can easily capture Olga, Egghead, and the Cossacks and sent them to Prison. BatsJust One Bat ... a HORRIBLE show and the video clip is the best part of the show and the rest of it ... just killing time watching it.

Batman Episodes (108) … Third SeasonCatwoman's Dressed to Kill Original Air DatesDecember 14, 1967 Major VillainessEartha Kitt as Catwoman It was Eartha Kitt's first appearance as Catwoman and did a respectful job as Catwoman. I'm a Julie Newmar and Lee Meriwether fan and I have to say this that I had a hard time accepting the fact that Kitt became Catwoman because she was too short to play the part. Julie was 5'11, Lee was 5'9, and Kitt was 5'4. Julie was unable to play Catwoman because of her contractual duties in MacKenna's Gold that was released in 1969. Kitt cast in the role has always been a divisive point for fans and analysts of this series; some were instantly and forever opposed to the idea of anyone other than Newmar taking on the role, similar to the reaction to Meriwether in the Batman movie. The other point reflected the unfortunate era in which this series was produced, as Kitt's race was--to the ill-minded among the audience--the fuel for strong rejection of Kitt. Despite Dozier/Greenway casting her in the role in the first place, they (and very likely ABC and Batman's sponsors) predicted and bowed to expected pressure, so the romance angle which had been such a major component of Catwoman during Newmar's run, was completely wiped away from the Kitt Catwoman. For that reason, Kitt as Catwoman always takes some viewers out of the show, as it was difficult to forget all of the real world issues having an effect on the series. Batman Episodes (109) … Third SeasonThe Ogg Couple Original Air DatesDecember 21, 1967 Major VillainsVincent Price as Egghead and Anne Baxter as Olga, Queen of the Cossacks Guest StarsHardly worth mentioning here Much like the plot. Egghead's second season debut was already a mix of a villain with potential with flat out ridiculous character traits, and by season three, he was a henpecked (no pun intended), whining man-child--just like Romero's take on the Joker. I've seen other series take a turn for the worst, and/or are just spinning their wheels toward the end, but its rare to see a series sink so fast as Batman in only two years. While the series had 120 episodes, it was not 120 stories, which makes its quick fall to mediocrity more shocking.

tarkintino great analysis of Kitt as Catwoman. But I don't think viewers accepted John Astin as the Riddler either. I didn't like the big 4 villains (Joker, Riddler, Penguin, Catwoman) replaced by anyone else. I didn't mind the different Mr Freezes. I agree the third season had so many poor episodes. It's a shame because I really LOVED Yvonne Craig as Batgirl.

About Eartha Kitt - Race has nothing to do with Kitt's performance as Catwoman; my problem for Eartha Kitt is that she is too short and bothers me. Your points are right on the nose and I want to acknowledge that both Egghead, The Joker, and the show declining values in the 3rd Season made it difficult for me to watch them. Your last point, series had 120 episodes, it was not 120 stories and that's made it unbearable for me to review the 3rd Season in General. I got 11 episodes to do and I'm planning on getting done before Groundhog Day!

Oh, I was not suggesting you had an issue with Kitt's race, but some viewers of the series at that time, and a few in the present day had/have problems with her for that one reason. Good luck! At this point, I cannot think of much that was worth watching, other than minor things, such as Robin delivering a leaping martial arts kick in the Shame arc, or King Tut actually learning Batman and Robin's true identities and possibly one last use of the Batcopter stock footage in the final Joker episode of the series.

You're right--many viewers did not like Astin as Riddler #2, but Kitt replacing Newmar in that decade was something some fans did not want to see, which lends itself to the idea that she was the reason the romance angle was completely dropped in season 3.

About two years ago, to be honest ... I had a member criticized me for her "race" and I was wrong on that part here and I've apologized for that. But, she is a terrific actress and I felt was too short for Catwoman. I was truly wrong about and felt really bad about it. Unfortunately, that member no longer here and it's hurts to see him let go.

Here's a PSA for U.S. Savings Bonds starring Adam West in costume, while the TV series was at the height of its popularity-- Mechagodzilla, after you finish series reviews, you might consider reviewing the two, post-series productions to feature Adam West and/or Burt Ward in costume: the 1973 (1972 in some sources) U.S. Department of Labor PSA about the Federal Equal Pay Act which not only starred Ward as Robin, Yvonne Craig as Batgirl, but William Dozier returned to provide narration for the spot, and the backing track to the "Batman Theme" is used in the longer form spot. The only holdout was West, who was trying to distance himself from the character at that time. Filling in was character actor Dick Gautier, perhaps best known as "Hymie the robot" from the 60s spy comedy, Get Smart. There were two versions of the spot: ...and a slightly longer cut... The other production is Hanna-Barbera's 2-part 1979 TV special, Legends of the Superheores, which reunited West, Ward and Frank Gorshin in costume for the first time since 1967-- The full special is available from Warner Archive DVDs on amazon, but I will reserve opinion until you've watched it....

tarkintino ... I've have seen the US SAVINGS BOND of which Adam West is promoting the sales of them and as far the Equal Pay thing of which Craig was predominately used and seeing both Ward and Gautier filing in for West was good and I do promote and support equal pay for all members regardless of sex and race. For, the Legends of the Superheroes and the Roast ... It will take awhile and I'll try to review them after the 120th Show is finished and I'll share those views here. I have a friend that has the VHS tape and he's in the process of converting to CD and soon that done he'll share those shows to me. Do you want me to do both shows ... the Superheroes and/or Roast?

I watched Legends of the Superheroes back in the day and had it both on bootleg VHS (from a convention) and authorized DVD (Warner Archives). Silly but fun. The show has a bit of a surprising secret, which came out later. Giganta was, like the original character (not the Challenge of the Superfriends version), someone transformed into a woman. The original was an ape, mutated into a human female. The cartoon version was a woman who steals magic from Apache Chief's mentor. The Legends version is supposed to be the Superfriends version (apart from effects to turn her into a giant). However, the actress who played her, Aleshia Brevard, was born Alfred Brevard Crenshaw.

Batman Episodes (110, 111) … Third SeasonThe Funny Feline Felonies The Joke's on Catwoman Original Air DatesDecember 28, 1967 January 4, 1968 Major VillainsCesar Romero as The Joker and Eartha Kitt as Catwoman Guest StarsToo Many of them, most of them were cameos and I'm not going to bother with it. Both Shows in GeneralFirst of all, The Joker got released by Warden Crichton and Bruce Wayne is present to serve as Parole Officer and handed the Warden of a cigar and the cigar didn't explode and the Joker commented that he used $10.00 bill to light them. After that, the Joker got picked up by the Catwoman's Kitty Kar just outside of Prison Wall and she made it look like she is kidnapping the Joker and all that. Then, onwards to Sleazy Hotel so that they can put their evil plans to work ... Then, the silliness of this show starts to begin and new form of crime-fighting known to us as the Bat Creep and it's so funny and here's the You Tube Clip of it so that Batman can figure out where the Criminals are at and where they were doing prior to this attack on Commissioner Gordon's office. Pretty Silly 4 minutes of Action Here. Then, Joker and the Catwoman are back to their hideout and planning on securing the Gunpowder to use to blast a hole into the Federal Depository but they needed a Nightshirt and a Crib to get the job done. I just find the scene at Little Louie who owns the nightshirt so nuts and so campy that I was laughing my heads off. Great Bat-Fight and one of the better ones in the 3rd Season and it's has that 1st and 2nd Season appeal to them and everyone is working together on this. Then, in the 2nd Show ... the Criminals are waiting for our Heroes to depart so that Batgirl can be separated so that Catwoman can employ her Cat-Whiskers on her and they managed to capture Batgirl by removing her Spark Plug from her Bat-Girl Cycle. Then she uses the sprinkler system to get out of the jam and so that she can call the Caped Crusaders for more information about the caper. You Tube of the Cat Paws Incident Then, after all this going on, then they managed to get to the location of where both Catwoman and the Joker were after the Explosives and went to the Lighthouse of Mr. and Mrs Keeper and they found it and Batman uses a Spray Can that neutralizes the explosives and another round of rounding up the criminals and sent them to Court so that Lucky Pierre can get them out of charges. The judge is appalled, but then the foreman’s fake mustache starts to come off, and Batman recognizes him as a former thug of Catwoman’s. Batman moves for a mistrial on the grounds of a prejudicial jury, and then the foreman whips out a machine gun. Batman gets rid of the gun with his batarang, but then fisticuffs ensue with the jury, and our heroes are triumphant. Catwoman and Joker are led off to prison and the show ends right there. BatsThree Bats is the best that I can do and it's has a nice plot and too many characters to deal with and it's managed to get the job done and this is one of the better Eartha Kitt's performance as Catwoman. Joker was used as a 2nd Stringer and did not do much damage control. If he had been more useful ... I would given it a higher grade.
