Facts remains that Jack Kirby working with Stan Lee created more characters than Ditko and Jack did the initial artwork and even writing for them proves without the shadow of the doubt that Jack is Mr. Marvel Comics 2 ... and Stan Lee is Mr. Marvel Comics 1. Ditko is a legend in Marvel Comics and Kirby is both a Icon and a Legend ... hands down.

Incidentally, I've never Jack Kirby Collector, but the next issue will be at my LCS. I can't wait. Has anyone here read it?
I think it's nearing its 80th issue. Hard to know how you can fill nearly 80 issues about one person, but I will read it and enjoy it, I'm sure.

Hard to know how you can fill nearly 80 issues about one person, but I will read it and enjoy it, I'm sure. Been collecting since the very 1st issue when it was a small and simple fan idea from John Morrow. Lots of really interesting features over the years and always great pencil art from Kirby being highlighted from collectors. Historically speaking, there is TONS of topics to discuss with Kirby's vast output of comic book work. Some nice insights from people who worked with him and lots of retrospective discussion over his story design and layout style, characterizations and about Kirby's life in general. Makes for a good biographical read and did I mention the stunning art? Some issues can be hit or miss at times but every single issue you will learn something new and find the King's art presented in glorious black and white or color as printed and many as he pencilled it without changes or embellishments from inkers.

Thanks!
Is there a letters page? Or a regular column? Not sure when the next issue is out, it'll be my first due to LCS ordering systems.

I am not sure anyone does grandeur better than Jack Kirby. And I'm not sure anyone does mystical realms better than Ditko. Ditko also does a much moodier (and therefore better IMO) urban setting than Kirby. Kirby by a blowout. I always felt Ditko was overrated. Yeah, but you don't even like something as cool as a green space-rabbit, so what the hell do you know?!

Yes, Ditko's urban settings are better. They have a very fantastical atmosphere to them.

For me, I went Kirby. I feel like growing up on the Super Powers toy line and even having Kirby work on the comic tie-in helped inform my feelings towards his art and his characters.
I'm no expert on Ditko, but generally, I liked what other people did with his characters like The Question and Shade, the Changing Man much more than what he did.

Yes, Ditko's urban settings are better. They have a very fantastical atmosphere to them. Hmmm...maybe. But they're definitely gloomier and more menacing...more claustrophobic, than Kirby's urban settings. That's what I like about them.

That is true. It was quite an immersive experience seeing Ditko's streets in various Spidey comics. They were immersive and absorbing, and I guess I did feel claustrophobic as I perused every panel.

Jack Kirby happens to be my favourite Captain America artist.
