If I still own a Static #1, it’s upstairs in a 2/$1 box.

I’m shaking my head about the books that have jumped in price. I had the Static and the Hulk book. Gave them away.

I have made some trades, one of them quite complicated, so once I have the new books in hand I will be posting an update and the next round will begin.

The complicated trade I did was a little too complex to explain in full.
The short version, though, is that in some of my YouTube videos I've been showing boxes of random comics, and every so often I'll pull one out and be like, "this is a book that might go in my trading challenge once I open up a slot for it."
One of my trading partners had seen these and wanted to trade for some of the books that weren't actually in the trading kitty yet.
What we eventually agreed to do in the interest of getting some trades done and getting things moving again was that I would agree to trade some of these books, but he would also first trade for some books that were already in the kitty. That way, I could open up slots to put the new books in. So for example, if he wanted four books not in the kitty yet, he'd first trade for four books already on the list to free up those slots.
The upshot is that the next round will be Round Five rather than Round Four, and I was able to move a number of books off the list. I received in return a couple really cool Golden Age pre-code horror gems, and opened up some free slots to add in several new dollar bin finds.
Combined with a couple other trades I made, there will be nine new books/lots in the kitty for the next round.
Here's the old list, showing the books that have been traded away:
1. Hit Comics #53 (incomplete) - $10 2. Mighty Samson #1 - 4.5 - $10 3. Rai #1 - 9.0 - $12 4. Lone Wolf and Cub #1 - 8.5 - $15 5. Young Romance #172 - 5.0 - $15
6. G.I. Joe sealed 5-Pack - $20 - 7. Micronauts #1 (whitman) 8.0 - $23 8. Ice Cream Man #23 variant - 9.2 - $35
9. Amazing Spider-Man #54 - 3.5 - $35 - 10. Red Ryder #65&85 - 4.5 - $40
11. Avengers #100 - 5.0 - $45 - 12. Iron Man #118 - 5.0 - $45 - 13. Static #1 - 9.2 - $50 14. Black Panther #1 (1998) - 9.2 - $50 15. Action Comics #226 - 3.5 - $70 16. Usagi Yojimbo Summer Special #1 - 6.5 - $80
17. Jack Kirby DC Lot - $95 - 18. Hulk #1 (2008) - 9.2 - $110 19. What If? #10 - 6.5 - $150
20. X-Men #129 - 2.5 - $175 -
The previous valuation for the whole group was $1085. I think this is going to go up quite a bit, as the empty slots I have are going to be filled by some pretty robust books - two of them are over a hundred bucks each.
I'm not sure how long I can keep up with adding new books to the pool, as I've had very little chance to do much dollar bin diving since COVID began, which puts a crimp in things.
I may also delay the official start to the next round until January due to the holidays, but I will be posting a preview list here shortly to give you guys first crack.

Here's the new list for ROUND FIVE: The books in blue are carryovers from the previous round. The books in black are new additions. Several of the returning books have gone down in price/ask value, as the market has started correcting itself form the crazy highs of the spring and summer. The only book left from the initial 20 when I started is Usagi Yojimbo Summer Special #1, which was probably my favorite of the whole group I'm dropping the trade ask a little again in the hopes of finding a home for it. The X-Men Lot at $100 has three issues: X-Men #221 (1st Mister Sinister), X-Men vol. 2 #8 (1st Bella Donna), X-Men vol. 2 #53 (1st Onslaught).

Yes, but it may be a while. I don't have all of the books yet, some are stuck in the holiday mail, so who knows how long it will take for them to arrive. And with the holidays on us, I probably won't have time to do a lot of trading anyway. Having said that, if anyone here wants to trade before the video, I can take pictures of the comics (that I have in hand, anyway) and we can work something out before I do the video.

The video for Round 5 will be going up a week from today. There have been some market adjustments in the last month I've had to make. A handful of books I've adjusted my trade asks downward, but this has been offset by the increase in value of Marvel Premiere #28. I don't know why this book is going for so much money now, but a raw copy listed as an 8.0 sold for $263 + $23 shipping for a total of $286. I think it might have been slightly undergraded, but for more context, a CGC 8.5 sold for $293 plus shipping in December as well. Given that my copy up for trade is around the 8.0 range raw, I've raised my asking price to a modest $225. This is a nice psychological barrier to break through, as it's the first book to break the $200 mark after we've had many $100+ books over the last year. It's not the only one, though! Even though the video hasn't even gone live yet for Round 5, I have already completed two big trades and have two more big books coming in that are both over $200. I'm not sure what the trade ask/value will be by the time Round 6 starts, but one of them may be $300. And we're also going to have our first CGC books in the trading pool for Round 6. I still am hoping to do more trades once Round 5 actually starts, of course, but I feel like this round qwe've already jumped up a level. Here's a look at the trading for Round 5 in progress so you can see what's been traded out and the revised trade values of what's left - the books in red with the strikethrough have been traded away I will also have another trading challenge video next Wednesday to talk about an experiment I am trying with CGC books. Some potential trading partners have turned down traded with me because they will only trade their CGC books for other CGC books, regardless of whether the value of my ungraded books is equal to or more than their asking price. So I feel I need to get some CGC books in the pool in order to trade for other CGC books. I also am working to figure out how to handle these trades myself once I have CGC books and am offered raw books in trade. It's tricky. The experiment is that I just sorted through my stash of dollar bin finds and found that I had 16 copies of StarSlayer #2. So I sent the six nicest copies to CGC. My hope is that they will grade high enough so I can sell 2-3 of them to cover the grading costs, and then have 2-3 gradec opies left to add to the pool in future rounds. Right now, CGC is a disaster and I wouldn't use them for books in my collection, but we're going to see 1) What grades I get; 2) How the condition is affected by a press/clean, which I have never done; 3) whether CGC manages to destroy them entirely with their shoddy handling; 4) how long it takes to actually receive them back; 5) how vastly different the value of these books will be in today's market by the time I receive them back; and 6) how six nearly identical copies of the same issue are graded differently. Anyway, that video will be up on Jan. 12, and I am hoping to have another trading video the following week where I show off my box of dollar bin finds that aren't yet in the trading pool - maybe people can give me some ideas of which books they want added next.

Good luck, my friend.
