^ I love that this image looks like the Cop is pulling the little girl in front of the truck to die with him. ah.. simpler times That story was detailed in "Police in Favor of Crime."

The Unseen Hand #4, DC/Vertigo, 1996 Cover by Daniel Torres This series is one of my favorite overlooked gems of the 90's. Although it wasn't formally billed as such, this is a remake of Mike Sekowsky's "Jason's Quest" from Showcase #88-90 (on sale 1969-1970). It's much more faithful to the source material than one might expect based on other Vertigo remakes, so there's no question of its initial inspiration. It's copyrighted to Terry Laban and Ilya, who, respectively, wrote and drew this miniseries, which maybe wouldn't have been as feasible if the publisher had been upfront about this being a derived work. As published, the only hint at acknowledgment is the renaming of the lead character to "Mike" instead of "Jason". Although it irks me that the originator of the premise was excised from the published work, I still like the miniseries a lot.

I am a big fan of that series (it's among a handful of comics I've actually hung on to through every move since the 90s), but I never knew it's link to Jason's Quest (as I have never read that feature and only have 1 of the issues from it, that's not surprising). I initially bought it because I was heavy into Robert Anton Wilson at the time and the title pinged that interest, even though it didn't touch on that subject matter, but I enjoyed the mini regardless. -M

Jesse, can you cite the title in your post? Thanks! It's Batman 559 Prince Hal -M Thanks. My computer's in a funk of some kind, preventing me from seeing lots of images from various posters here and also telling me certain sites (like even Wikipedia and the Boston Globe -- to which I subscribe) are imitating other sites to steal my info. Something weird I can't figure out. I need the help of a ten-year-old.
