They definitely used the Legion of Doom HQ in continuity too... I think during the Morrison run? Yes. It appeared in Final Crisis.

The first CW DC shows crossover featured a building that looked like the Hall of Justice. I'm pretty certain that was the first, and possibly only time there has been a live-action version.
Oops. Never mind. Bearded Batman beat me to it.

The Denny O'Neil stories from the Dollar Comics Detective issues are some of my favorite Batman stories.

Mal, as The Guardian, actually looked pretty good, with the added exo-skeleton. I hadn't recalled this costume. From the '70s run? I knew he'd called himself The Guardian, but didn't realize he'd taken on THAT Guardian mantle. Yeah, it was the 70s run. Initially, he only wore it for one issue before it was replaced by his worst costume ever (a fan design). Fortunately, that one only lasted one issue before he returned to the Guardian costume.

I liked Mal's short-lived tenure as the Guardian, during the revival of the series.

True. But, because Marvel has had so many re-launches, when they do release titles in trade they often end up with multiple volume ones for characters/teams, which can be confusing for new fans and can potentially affect sales. This is a trade-dress problem not a re-launch problem. You're right. But, as it stands, it is a direct result of their many re-launches, and they would probably benefit from alternate trade dress.

yeah, I think that's the most annoying thing for me.... between restarts and multiple covers, it's now really hard to buy stuff and make sure you don't already have it Not their problem. Marvel isn't in the business of selling back issues and they would rather you bought older material in trade or digitally so they can get some revenue off it anyways. Do you expect car manufacturers to worry about making it easier to buy used cars form other dealers or book publishers making it easier to buy used books from second hand stores too? -M True. But, because Marvel has had so many re-launches, when they do release titles in trade they often end up with multiple volume ones for characters/teams, which can be confusing for new fans and can potentially affect sales.

The first to come to mind is Green Arrow's chili. This topic might be worthy of its own thread.

The 'Justice League of America' title is the one that is sorta Batman and the Outsiders, so that's not too surprising. I'm a little surprised at Teen Titans, but re-launching it as Young Justice would make sense. Speaking of Outsiders, it will probably get a re-launch at some point soon, too. Neither it or Young Justice have been used as comic titles for a while, and DC most likely wants to hold on to the trademarks.

Just read one of my favorite Batman compilation books, "The Best of DC Blue Ribbon Digest: Batman's Villains" from 1981. All of the stories are from the 1970's. Reprinted are... Batman #260 (1975) "This One'll Kill You, Batman" by Denny O'Neil and Irv Novick... Batman #234 (1971) "Half an Evil" by Denny O'Neil and Neal Adams... Detective Comics #473 (1977) "The Malay Penguin" by Steve Engelhart and Marshall Rogers... Batman #263 (1975) "Riddler on the Move" by Denny O'Neil and Ernie Chan... Batman #266 (1975) "The Curious Case of the Catwoman Coincidences" by Denny O'Neil and Irv Novick. This collection also contains new material which consists of 1 page origin stories for all 5 villains. There is also a 2 page centerspread of Bat villains but not sure if this is new material or reprinted from elsewhere? Does anyone know who the writer/artist is for the 1 page origin stories? I could not find any information on this. I was just thinking about this book yesterday. I had it as a kid and I was trying to remember all the villains in the pin-up, so this is a happy coincidence.

I just read X-Men #2 by Lee and Kirby (with Reinman). It's such a wonderfully goofy issue. Highlights include the Vanisher teleporting into a military base to tell them he will return later to steal the defense plans rather than just taking them then, and Iceman using "fast-drying liquid ice"(Wha???)

The notion that Batman & Superman can't be friends is a stupid one. No surprise that it originated from Frank Miller, who's proven over the years to have a fundamental misunderstanding of both characters. If you're a fan of their friendship you should read #37 & #38 of the current Batman series. It's a fun story that focuses on the friendship of Bruce and Clark.

Bleeding Cool has a piece on an interview Bendis did with Forbes outlining his plans at DC. A 6 issue weekly Man of Steel mini (a' la Byrne's revamp mini in the 80's) with a variety of artists (Ivan Reis, Even Doc Shaner, Jason Fabok, Kevin Maguire, Ryan Sook, Adam Hughes) starting in May, and then then in July writing a new Superman series starting at #1 and taking over Action Comics with #1001, both of which will now be monthly rather than twice a month. Superman will focus on superheroic adventures and Action on the daily life of Clark Kent and the supporting cast in Metropolis. He will do a story in Dc Nation with Jose Garcia Lopez setting up the Action run. DC will also be creating a new imprint-Jinxworld-for all his creator owned material, and will be making new editions of all of it available as well as continuing several of the series that are unfinished (Powers, UnitedStates of Murder Inc, etc.) -M They are also giving him another imprint to curate, along the lines of what they did with Ellis and his Wild Storm stuff and Gerard Way with Young Animal. He says it will be stories that take place within the DCU using pre-existing and new characters, and that he will write some of the stories and some will be done by other writers with him overseeing.
