When people say, "Keep politics out of comics" they invariably mean, "politics I personally disagree with". not in my case. and again, although many here might disagree with how i feel the economics of comics should be paid out, i doubt that your personal/social politics differ from mine very much. I was speaking mainly of extreme right wing people using their comics careers as a pundit platform to as for social regression, versus progression. also saying 'they invariably mean' is too similar, for my own feelings, to language used by alt-right pundits to demean feminists and non anglo writers.

As we know it was those populist sentiments in the early Action Comics that kept that Superman character from ever getting off the ground. well it could be argued that 'populist' and 'economically viable' are not mutually inclusive. as in the antifa (bowel) movement.

as i said, the public shall decide. no politics no matter how heartfelt will EVER have anything to do with that. split hairs all you like, but when the main character goes bald, the series DIES. SHOW me a bald Dr. Who. show a FAT one. never seen a one, ay? yet that's, by your reckoning, 'circumstantial'. sorry mate, no go. it AIN'T. never will be. comics are the same. i have not abrogated terms of use here, btw. It's not by my reckoning...it's by the very meaning of the word circumstantial. dosen't change the fact there was never a bald/fat Doctor. never WILL. if what you said above had been the case, there would have been. there isn't even a wrinkled female Doctor. no helen mirren, etc. ageism. 'circumstantial'? sorry to be your missy here, but...

dollars earned matter. certain comics sales of certain titles have gone downhill since writers have spent an inordinate amount of time tweeting about an election which (for good or ill) was settled months ago. you can say the comparison i make 'isn't enough', and that's fine for 'now'. we'll see what 'fruit' shakes off from the tree from Disney several months from now. or what nectarines shrivel. It's fine to say, "it isn't enough" until you illustrate otherwise. One simply cannot posit that because X happened and at the same time Y also occurred then X caused Y without providing supporting evidence to link the two.isn't that what kinda happened in the 1st appearance/adventure of the Ice Warriors, though, starring Patrick Troughton? where the Doctor argued against the point you made in bold? when IS it enough? when series you love gets shelved? like DOCTOR WHO after Sylvester McCoy's run? the BBC clearly didn't agree with you here. comics are 'tv on paper', so neither do i. but disagreement is allowed under terms of use, so 'yay!' as Squirrel irl would say.

comics are a product which lead to advertising which lead to ancillary product sales. like DALEK SOAP. 'faulty logic' kinda demeans 'the hope that the message through the medium' will be heard and responded to, which is the cause of most tv existing at all. most of what we love on the small screen has been a shill for corporate conglomerates. None of which matters, the point is that the comparison you make isn't enough to illustrate that political commentary by the creators and faltering sales are related. dollars earned matter. certain comics sales of certain titles have gone downhill since writers have spent an inordinate amount of time tweeting about an election which (for good or ill) was settled months ago. you can say the comparison i make 'isn't enough', and that's fine for 'now'. we'll see what 'fruit' shakes off from the tree from Disney several months from now. or what nectarines shrivel. which will affect self-publishers.

the pages are like Alex Toth sans 'as much visual verve'.
i wonder where that came from: the scripter or the illustrator.

Looking at doing my first comic con in 6 months this Sunday. It's a fairly small show and I have no real budget for it, but it will be good to get out and see some of the local creators and dealers I know and catch up since I have been out of the loop for a bit. Some of the local creators have put out new issues of their self-published books I need to catch up on, but I don't expect to pick up too much (or carry it around with the restrictions I still have). -M cool. many smaller shows are more enjoyable; the creators/vendors are more relaxed.

Late 60s DC covers were much better designed and executed than those of Marvel. There, I said it. as long as one eschews drama, yes.

it sickens me if doyen Hunt was underrated. in comics, or fine art oil painting.

I don't know if I agree with that. You have the rise of the superhero movies which is a new jumping off point, but I will say I am not self-conscious about it at all...probably has to do with my antisocial tendencies and subtle schadenfreude at other's disdain for my life choices. (Except I am one of the most social people I know...go figure.) If you're a posting member of CCF, you are self concious about it definition please. Outrajs is self concious by enjoying the dualism of being a comics geek, yet posting 'here' and what she said about 'schadenfreude'? or something else?

Over half of Republicans are ready to wipe their ass with the Constitution and "postpone" the 2020 election. Or in other words install a dictator. Can we please stop with the false equivalence that both parties are the same? I weep for America. i must agree with Slam here and ask that he/she does not deem me to be sarcastic. the parties are NOT the same. neither are Lib/Lab in the UK. the notion that only those with a certain taxable income are entitled to decent medical treatment proves a wide and horrific divide between hard-right/hard-left. i weep for several countries.
