Not related to the Marvel run but I got a random issue of Star Wars Tales in a grab bag of books I had bid for on Ebay and immediately thought of you Confessor. I don't know if you've ever read Star Wars Tales #19,( I hadn't before today) but if you(or others) haven't read it there was a story that featured the unlikely "meeting" of Han Solo...and Indiana Jones. It's obviously not in continuity and I wouldn't add it to my own head-canon any time soon but the concept was fun none the less.

I only ever bought a handful of random issues, and I've since sold them all on, but SWT was definitely a fun series that quite often had some really interesting and entertaining out-of-continuity stories like this. I must confess that I've not read that particular Star Wars/Indiana Jones cross-over story, but it looks like fun.

I was in the same boat, I remember being really excited when it was announced as I love anthologies but for my taste the tones were too disparate to keep me interested so I missed this issue completely back then. The story above is short but sweet, I think there were only 4 other pages aside from the one I posted above, but if you find it for cheap as I did it's well worth it.

So, this has apparently just come out... I have both the "Artifact Edition", featuring Howard Chaykin eat al, and the Al Williamson volumes, but I had no idea that this volume was even scheduled until I just saw a random Facebook post about it. I am definitely going to have to get this...but I might have to leave it until after I come back from my holiday this year (these things are pretty pricey you know).

So there's yet another new comic to talk about in this thread... a mini-series, even.... Target: Vader Valance apparently is either someone's favorite or got some good feedback after #108 (But not enough to get the series named after him).. the set up is Vader is looking for a secret group called the Hidden Hand, and said group hires Valance to lead a pack of Bounty Hunters to kill Vader first. Valance has a distinct Jonah Hex vibe to me (and not just his appearance), but it could be interesting... we'll see. The 1st issue was decent, mostly set up. It'll be interesting to see if any other Marvel bits wander into the series. Are you sure this isn't the "cannon" Valance, rather than the "Legends" one from the old Marvel series? Apparently, a variation of Valence has been introduced recently into the regular SW comic continuity, but it's not really the same one as the character that Archie Goodwin created. BTW, I've now read Star Wars #108 and I'm about half way through writing a review of it. I should be ready to post it either at the weekend or, more likely, early next week. This is the one who has his new "origin" in the Han Solo: Imperial Cadet mini-series.

Did I just see Rik Duel, Dani and Chindo in carbonite in the Mandalorian? Dunno. It's not out in the UK yet and I'm not getting Disney+ anyway, so lord knows when I'll ever get around to seeing it. There's an ongoing discussion about the show over in the "May the Force Be With You" thread in the Community Forum. You might wanna ask over there. classiccomics.org/thread/151/force

I finally got around to the UK stuff in the back of the Epic collection... The Alan Moore stuff is good, but I do feel like they're more general Sci-Fi stories than Star Wars. I actually don't think he had Han characterized very well (much to sniveling), and while I liked the Vader story alot, it doesn't fit his character. Vader playing space chess? That makes no sense to me at all. Tilotny throws a Shape is awesome, but it should be a short story in a anthology somewhere, not a Star Wars comic. I liked 'Rust Never Sleeps' less as a concept, but it was a bit more Star Wars-y. I didn't like Death Masque as much as it seems others did... a hypnotic monkey with a skull face just doesn't do it for me. It also really bugged me that the X-Wing had it's wings together during the fight... I know it's dumb to care, but I do. Incidently Confessor... now that the Mandolorian is all out... one can make use of a free trial to watch it (I intend to do so soon)

I finally got around to the UK stuff in the back of the Epic collection... The Alan Moore stuff is good, but I don't feel like they're more general Sci-Fi stories than Star Wars. I assume you mean that you do feel as if they're more general sci-fi stories? I think that's true in some instances: "Dark Knight's Devilry" and "Tilotny Throws a Shape" for example. But some of them feel very much like Star Wars stories to me ("The Flight of the Falcon", "Blind Fury!", and "The Pandora Effect"), albeit Star wars stories filtered through Alan Moore's psychedelicised brain. I actually don't think he had Han characterized very well (much to sniveling), and while I liked the Vader story alot, it doesn't fit his character. Vader playing space chess? That makes no sense to me at all. Well, I disagree because I always felt that Moore's Han Solo was pretty spot on, characterisation-wise. As for Darth Vader playing chess...hey, everybody's gotta have a hobby! I thought this story was pretty Star Wars-y, focusing, as it does, on Vader and his past misdeeds. I think that it's also pretty bad-ass that Vader can confront the horrific reality of those misdeeds and appears to feel no guilt at all. I liked 'Rust Never Sleeps' less as a concept, but it was a bit more Star Wars-y. Yeah, "Rust Never Sleeps" has always been a favourite of mine, ever since I first read it back in 1982. I didn't like Death Masque as much as it seems others did... a hypnotic monkey with a skull face just doesn't do it for me. It also really bugged me that the X-Wing had it's wings together during the fight... I know it's dumb to care, but I do. Well, X-Wings can fly in space or in a planetary atmosphere with their S-foils locked together and not in "attack position", so I don't see that as a particular problem. It's a shame that you didn't like the core concept of the story or the devil-monkey Reist, but personally, I've always really rated this story. I think it's the interesting mix of horror and Star Wars in it that I really like. Incidently Confessor... now that the Mandolorian is all out... one can make use of a free trial to watch it (I intend to do so soon) OK, that's good to know. Thanks. Unfortunately, I don't have a smart TV or the ability to access stuff like Netflix or Disney+ through my digital Skybox receiver because I haven't upgraded to a Skybox Q or something??? Not that Disney+ is available here in the UK anyway. A friend of mine is supposed to be putting The Mandalorian on DVD for me, so hopefully I'll get to watch it soon.

I can't get it on my TV either.. I'd have to by a stick of some sort, which is why I haven't watched it yet. I'm annoyed they don't have a PS3 app, but I do have a big monitor for my computer, so it's not terrible. I was thinking about getting something for the TV, but my kids don't seem that excited about it (they're older... 11 and 15) so it would be more me getting them to watch stuff than anything
