I don't believe it was a continuation, but I could be wrong. White Wolf was trying to increase their market share and compete with the d20 explosion and did Adventure, Aberrant, and some others to try to capture genre audiences outside their typical angsty horror of Vampire, Werewolf, Mage, etc. Then they didn't set the world on fire and they rushed d20 versions of them out there as well, which also went over like a lead balloon.
