I always tend to think of Rags as a starter not a reliever because of that no no against the Sox. Forgot about Sparky though.

In case the inclusion of Descalso and Chambers didn't make it obvious, my favorite Cardinals are not necessarily the best. The only reason Pujols made it is because Berkman played in RF more than 1B and only played the one season.

3. 2002 Ford Mustang - my current car which I plan on driving until it has 200,000 miles. My car just went over 190,000 miles this morning. I bought it brand new, a 1991 Dodge Colt.

You got the MadDog on there, but no Cobra? No Pops? No CandyMan? Pops was pretty much done by the time I started really paying attention to them; I barely remember the '79 Series, and by 1980, he was usually injured and fairly ineffective. As for Candy and Parker, their best years for the Bucs ('77 and '79 for Candelaria, '75 through '79 for Parker) were just before my time of being a fan. I remember Madlock's batting titles, and to be honest, there hasn't been too much else at 3B for the Pirates since then (Morrison? Bonilla? Alvarez?)

MY Sox Lineup: 3B Wade Boggs - I think the chemistry is fine to have him at leadoff CF Fred Lynn - tough call between him and Ellsbury.. Lynn's more Red Sox-y I think LF Manny Ramirez - the guy's a mess, but he can sure hit! DH David Ortiz - duh! 1B Yaz - Duh! x2 RF Dwight Evans - Really, the decision was between him and Mo Vaughn (Yaz was an Outfielder for a long time, of course)... I decided I wanted the better defense over the power SS Nomar - Who else is there, really? C Jason Veritek - This is my Chemistry fix, so I can have Boggs and Manny 2B Dustin Pedroia - It sure ain't Marty Barrett! Bench: Mike Greenwell (4th OF), Fisk, Vaughn, Rico Petrocelli (Utility... he came up as a SS), Mike Lowell, Ellsbury (PR, Def. Replacement) Pitching: Pedro, Schilling, Tiant, Clemens, Lester (not sure I'd even consider anyone else... maybe Hurst for Lester as the lefty) Closer: Papelbon (I fear Koji was a one year wonder)

All-Time (that I saw) YankeesRF-Rickey Henderson SS-Derek Jeter 1B-Don Mattingly CF-Mickey Mantle LF-Dave Winfield DH-Reggie Jackson 2B-Robinson Cano C-Thurman Munson 3B-Craig Nettles P-Ron Guidrey Closer-Mariano Rivera No Berra? or Howard? I think I'd take either in the LF over Henderson (Winfield was more of a RF anyway) I'm assuming you saw them since you have Mantle in there Nettles is a tough one... I might take Clete Boyer or Mike Paguliaro.. .but that might just be because I like them better Of course, I'm a Red Sox fan, so I have a bit of a different angle.

I started watching the Yanks in 1964.By then Yogi was a manager.Ellie Howard was a excellent player,Henderson and Winfield are Hall Of Fame.Henderson was probably the greatest lead-off player in history. Its not even close choosing Nettles who was a defensive whiz, team captain,6 time All-Star with 390 HRs. Of course,a Red Sox fan would want to sabotage a Yankee team like putting in "American Idle" Carl Pavano as pitcher

LOL. I've never been a big Henderson fan.. I think speed as a weapon is overrated, and he had a spaghetti arm for most of his career. Nettles was great on defense, that's true. I'd rather have Howard's power than Henderson's speed, I think. If I was sabotaging, I would have suggested Kevin Maas, or worse, A-Rod

If I was sabotaging, I would have suggested Kevin Maas, or worse, A-Rod Ellie Howard .274 Avg 167 HRs 762 RBIs Rickey Henderson .279 Avg 297 HRs 1,115 RBI All Time Base Stealer 10 time All Star Watching Rickey playing in his prime:his walks and singles most likely became doubles, pitchers would lose concentration on the batter with him on base, infield holes would open up with the ss or 2B cheating to 2B to prevent a steal. He really rattled a teams defense.I saw it when he was a Yankee and earlier when he played against them as an Oakland A.Not the strongest arm but could cover a tremendous amount of the field with his speed. You might think speed is over-rated,but we're talking about the greatest speedster of all time. Also leads all of baseball with lead-off hrs.Plus he would average about 100 walks a season, over 2,200 of them.Sorry Ellie, love you man,but you're just coaching for this team

But Jim Rice needs to be on this team somewhere. I also kind of view Papelbon as a bit of a flash in the pan as well, which is why I went with Koji. I know Papelbon was good for a few years, but 2007 and 2008 were the only years where he was really dominant when it mattered. He was great in 2006 when he first became a full time closer to replace Foulke, but he hurt his arm and was shut down for the rest of the year; they missed the playoffs anyway so it didn't matter. Then in 2009, iirc he got hurt again, came back and started pitching more carefully and blew the series against the Angels. He never was as dominant again after that.
