Everything about Jone's Hulk run annoyed me, even the covers. The Paul Jenkins/Romita Jr. run right before this was pretty good, but this sort of fair from Marvel made me quit new comics for awhile. I returned, tentatively, in 2007 with Planet Hulk and Annihilation, but I've never fully recovered from the Quesada/Jemas era. If you read it as a kind of "Hulk: Earth One" story, it's really quite entertaining. Could have been about 1/3 shorter, though. |
