It wasn't the most complex of plots but it was a fun noir kind of story with great art My memory serves me good for once. Good story story indeed. Reminds me that I need to read more Hellboy. Any other good meetings including Hellboy?

How about Green Arrow? Prior to his time in the golden age Seven Soldiers of Victory, did he integrate into the DC Universe prior to joining the Justice League of America in the 1960s?

Of course he was one of the Seven Soldiers of Victory in Leading Comics back in the 40s, teaming with his sidekick, peedy and Crimson Avenger and Wing, Star-Spangled Kid and Stripesy, Shining Knight, and Vigilante.
He met Superboy in Adventure 258 in 1959, which preceded his first appearance in JLA (#4, 1961).
In 1959, he crossed over with Aquaman in Adventure 267, where each appeared as back-ups to Superboy.

Nice! That is the type of stuff I am interested in.
Found this neat one:
earth-one-earth-two.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-crossovers-time-forgot-between.html
It is a Joker, Batman and Robin cameo in the Golden Age with Star Spangled Kid and Stripsey (scroll down to find it.)

Whenever I read this thread title I keep thinking it means the first "meeting" - as in a board or committee meeting or a meeting at your job amongst the co-workers on some project - held by a group of superheroes. I suppose it would be the JSA, or something like that?

Simon & Kirby had The Newsboy Legion and the Sandman guest star in the Boy Commandos' strip twice, in Boy Commandos #1 and Detective Comics #76.
Cei-U! I summon the triple threat!

How can you have a surprise guest star featured on the cover?

How can you have a surprise guest star featured on the cover? They didn't announce the guest star in the previous issue.

... Or know who the Guest Star was going to be, probably.
And let's not forget the first Marvel Universe crossover - In Patsy Walker # 99, guest starring Linda Carter, Student Nurse!
