So, after reading the 1st trade of Jon Sable, Freelance this afternoon, I was thinking that I really, really, really want to see Grell do something like a revival of Lorna, the Jungle Queen. I mean, how awesome would that art be?
Seemed like a cool idea for a thread... what projects would you like to see that will likely never happen?

Easy. Golden Claw, a 21st century re-boot of Yellow Claw, where CIA Agent James Woo hunts down a Cold War-inspired terrorist organization bent on world conquest.

Not really the same concept, but did you read Agents of Atlas and its two follow-up series? It paints the Yellow Claw-Jimmy Woo dynamic in a much different light. One of Marvel's best series of the last decade.

A few years ago back on CBR we had a similar thread and my wish was a horror themed version of Gotham Central with the Specter done by Mike Mignola and while Mignola isn't doing any mainstream book DC is putting out a book just like the one I wanted called Gotham by Midnight and it has one of the next best things to Mignola: Ben Templesmith! He's perfect for a horror book and Ray Falkes is good at mixing the elements of horror and police procedural. With that dream accomplished my next wish would be an ongoing Captain Marvel book, similar to Jeff Smith's Monster Society of Evil and Morrison's Thunderworld but with art by either Chris Samnee or Dustin Nguyen. I couldn't find a sketch by Nguyen but his Superman is really good.

I want a book like DC did with Joe Kubert Presents...take a veteran classic comic creator or creators, give them access to your entire library of characters and a 6 issue mini and say tell whatever stories you want to tell and invite as many people as you want to contribute and collaborate with. After 6 issues, bring in a different guiding voice to do 6 issues. I think I would want them to start with someone like Jim Steranko as the editor/guiding voice of the first 6 issues and go from there.

I would like Mark Waid to go back to DC and do a proper extended run on a regular monthly Superman title.

I'd add Jim Starlin, George Perez, Neil Gaiman, and Marv Wolfman.

I would like Mark Waid to go back to DC and do a proper extended run on a regular monthly Superman title. When I talked to Mark a little over a year ago at Champion City Con 2013, he said there would have to be major changes at DC before he returned (new management and return to pre-Flashpoint continuity at the minimum) and the one character that might entice him to go back was Batman because he has never really had a chance to play in the Gotham playground. He said there have been so many near misses with Supes he has resigned himself to never doing it now. Now that was a while ago and he may have changed his mind, but that was how he answered a question about returning to DC at his spotlight panel. -M

Green Hornet Year 2 by Matt Wagner
Kato Year 2 by Matt Wagner
Huntress (Pre-Crisis Year 2) by someone other than Paul Levitz
Jay Garrick, the Flash by almost anyone

I'd like to see the entire Marvel line revamped, with Paul Dini and Kurt Busiek as co-EICs and Steve Rude as Art Director.
Cei-U! I summon the impossible dream!
