R.I.P. Mr. Nimoy. You have been an inspiration to generations of sci-fi fans and will be remembered.

I liked the Shat's words on the matter, "I loved him like a brother. We will all miss his humor, his talent, and his capacity to love."

Well, crap. Of course I enjoyed his Star Trek work, but also his old "In Search of.." show when I was a kid, and on "Mission Impossible". Even his voiceover role as a Mego action figure version of himself on "Big Bang Theory". He'll be missed.

RIP. Condolences to his family. Part of my childhood & love of science (probably like a lot of posters here) was tied to Star Trek & Spock...

My wife just texted me this too ... Mr Nimoy's last tweet ... @therealnimoy: A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP

He will be missed, and yet even though we are sad we can also take comfort in that he will always be remembered when we watch his great work in shows like Star Trek.
I think that is the great thing about being a successful actor in that in a sense they have gain a sort of immortality even after they are gone through their films & shows. I am at least grateful that I got to see him at a Star trek convention in the 90's.

I don't remember outside of his roles in TV and movies, really being the in public eye a lot. I remember him appearing at some point with William Shatner in the Priceline commercials but that's all that comes to mind.

Not only did he inspire a love of scifi in me as a child with his role as Spock, he sparked my curiosity and sense of wonder at the weird and unusual, and mysterious as the narrator of In Search of, an inspiration that drove a lot of my academic life in search of ancient and medieval history. Thank you good sir, you will be missed, but never forgotten.

Like a posted on my Facebook page, this is a real shame and something that I genuinely feel quite sad about. I was never a massive Star Trek fan, but the original series and attendant movies were a big part of my childhood and still something that I enjoy watching to this day. Mr. Spock was such an iconic pop culture figure that it's hard not to feel that this marks the end of an era somehow.
RIP, Spock.

We are assembled here today to pay final respects to our honored dead. And yet it should be noted, in the midst of our sorrow, this death takes place in the shadow of new life, the sunrise of a new world; a world that our beloved comrade gave his life to protect and nourish. He did not feel this sacrifice a vain or empty one, and we will not debate his profound wisdom at these proceedings. Of my friend, I can only say this: Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most... human.

Created or brought to life one of the most iconic tv characters of all time. I'd say he was a personal favourite but that sounds ridiculous when so many people felt the same way. Still, like all those many fans, Nimoy was a huge part of my childhood and amongst all the myriad cultural influences that went into my mental make-up, Mr Spock was one of biggest.
