DC Comics unveiled this new costume via HitFix, as the cover for the post-Convergence return of the Wonder Woman series with June's #41. Finch's designs takes what Chiang had prior, elaborating on it with matching wrist blades, armored shoulder plates, and a blue skin-tight suit to cover up her skin below the head underneath the original New 52 costume. In addition to the cover, DC also provided the solicitation for Wonder Woman #41: WONDER WOMAN #41 Written by MEREDITH FINCH Art and cover by DAVID FINCH and JONATHAN GLAPION THE JOKER Variant cover by BRIAN BOLLAND On sale JUNE 17 • 32 pg, FC, $3.99 US RATED T Retailers: This issue will ship with two covers. Why the heck does Wonder Woman need blades attached to her bracelets??? And those shoulder pads are completely unnecessary and straight out of the 90s. I am happy to see the return of the gold and the W-belt.
As for Superman's new costume, I don't see it. All I see is a hipster in a Golden Age Superman T-shirt.

I agree with you 100% and if this the new look - I'm seriously thinking of cancelling Superman Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman book altogether. To me, this is a step backwards and I just can't believe that they would do this to the two of the biggest characters in DC Comics history. David Finch done a great disservice to Wonder Woman's outfit. I don't care for the blades on the bracelets and the shoulder pads at all. I just can't figure it out myself and I'm not a happy camper at all.

As weird as these changes are, I kind of like it! I might even start buying Superman/Wonder Woman.

This is all just hype to sell issues. Superman just got a new costume and look what happened -- Superman #38 sold out. They will be back in more conventional costumes before the year is out.

I might be the only person around here that likes the new costumes, but I agree with you. I think these looks are temporary. As soon as someone else has a chance to either write or illustrate Superman and Wonder Woman we will have either conventional costumes or even newer "mod" looks.

I don't think the Superman costume is even bad (it's just jeans and T-shirt!), though I can't say the same about the WW costume... looks like something from the 90s. But either way, you have to be completely naive to think that this is in any way a permanent or even lengthy change of costume. WW costume maybe... but no way there are going to let Superman run around in just jeans and T shirt for an extended period of time. I'm pretty certain this is a momentary change to service the story, after which both will revert to somewhat more standard superhero costumes.

That Wonder Woman costume reminds me of mid-90s Daredevil, when it was mostly blue....

"costume" is a very generous term for Supermans T-shirt and jeans...

Looks like Flash Green Arrow and Green Lantern are getting new duds/costume tweaks too post-Convergence... Tech Times articleFlash by Brett Booth... Green Arrow by Patrick Zircher... Green Lantern by Billy Tan... so this very well may be an attempt to update the look of DC to be more contemporary to align with the move to Burbank and visually depict the change in editorial philosophy that has been coined the Batgirlization of the DCU. Any indicator for how long it will last will come out of the marketing department and not the comic production line however. If you start seeing mass market products that feature DC characters (coloring books, birthday party favors, toddler toys, kids clothes-not stuff for the direct market hardcore fans but for consumption by mass consumers who are familiar with the characters but not regular comics consumers) adopting the new looks, then they will be here to stay, if they maintain the classic looks, then these costumes are temporary. The marketing material is the stuff that is the long term plan of WB/DC and holds how they want to sell their stuff overall, not just as a quick sales push for the comics. But be aware, it did take DC marketing about 2 years to adopt the initial new52 looks in stuff like (Superman & Batman w/o trunks, Cyborg in the JLA stuff, etc. so we won;t see that evidence for a while. -M

I like the Flash's new costume. I'd have to see more of Green Lantern and Green Arrow's costumes to make my final judgement.
