Just saw the new movie with my kids!
It was neat to have the cinema almost to ourselves (we went at 13h00, and it is technically a work day).
The film itself, is… well, I'll let you see for yourselves. The special effects, however, are pretty darn good. And this is the "real" Godzilla, not a mutated iguana.
And Godzilla voicing his famous roar/bellow is still as cool as the James Bond theme when it happens in a movie!

Godzilla Half Century War was quite good. I thought Gangsters & Goliaths was a good mini series as well. One recent issue in the current Rulers of the Earth series I really liked was issue #10 with the Gargantuas.

My favorite one growing up was "Bambi Meets Godzilla." I must have watched this 100 times.

I'm excited for this new Godzilla movie. I always chuckle at how bad the 1998 movie was. So damn bad...in fact Honest Trailers has decided to rip on how bad that movie was. I liked the 1998 Godzilla movie. In fact, It's the only one that I remember likeing aside from Godzilla vs. King Kong. But I find it amusing that you use the word "bad". ALL of those Godzilla movies were bad from script to costumes to scenery.

I just finished watching Godzilla 2000 and thought it was pretty fun. One of the guys in the movie looks like an Asian Bruce Campbell and he even sounds like him in the dub, so that was pretty awesome.
Next on the list is Godzilla vs. Megaguirus!

Like 'bone, I also enjoyed the '98 movie (though I wouldn't go out of my way too see it again). Like all of Emmerich's movies, it's easy to tell the script was an afterthought, written around the SFX sequences. I find the only way to sit through the Toho stuff is to smoke myself retarded first, because otherwise they're just soooooo stupid.
Cei-U! I summon the worst urban renewal plan ever!

I forgot I had made a list when I started the thread. This was supposed to go in the Random List thread, but I thought I'd make a Godzilla thread instead and then forgot to post the list. I've seen them all except the new one in both Japanese and English, so here's a list of the 29 Godzilla movies in order of how I like them. 1. Godzilla (1954) 2. Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All Out Attack (2001) 3. Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964) 4. King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962) 5. Invasion of the Astro Monster (Godzilla vs. Monster Zero, 1965) 6. Ghidorah: The Three Headed Monster (1964) 7. Godzilla vs. Destroyah (1995) 8. Terror of Mechagodzilla (1975) 9. Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla (2002) 10. Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991) 11. Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974) 12. Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II (1993) 13. Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. (2003) 14. Godzilla vs Hedorah (1971) 15. Destroy All Monsters (1968) 16. Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster (1966) 17. Godzilla Raids Again (1955) 18. Godzilla vs. Megagurius (2000) 19. Godzilla vs. Biollante (1989) 20. Son of Godzilla (1967) 21. Godzilla 2000 (1999) 22. Godzilla Final Wars (2004) 23. Godzilla's Revenge (1969) 24. Godzilla vs. Gigan (1972) 25. Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla (1994) 26. Godzilla vs. Mothra: Battle for the Earth (1992) 27. Return of Godzilla (1984) 28. Godzilla vs. Megalon (1973) 29. Godzilla (1998) referred to contemptuously and correctly as "Godzilla in Name Only"

14. Godzilla vs Hedorah (1971) 16. Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster (1966) Your number 14 was called Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster when I saw it in the theater in 1974. Still the only one of these I've ever seen on a big screen (that may change soon). Naturally, I loved it.
Re. #16: Our local Japanese steakhouse (Osaka) serves a sushi roll called the Ebirah roll (Ebirah is the Kaiju in Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster). As an ignorant American, I just assumed ebirah meant "lobster" or some such in Japanese, but from what I gather, a customer suggested the name as a tribute to the Showa films. Please correct me if wrong.

Aw, man! Don't you know it's after 11 here? There's no way I'm not watching this. And then I'll be over-stimulated and won't get to sleep till after three. I'm gonna be a zombie at my niece's christening tomorrow. Thanks, "buddy."

Went and saw Godzilla with a buddy of mine (who is a much bigger fan of the character and has all the Godzilla films on DVD). Maybe it was our expectations being so damn high and expecting EPIC greatness . But the film really is an average movie at best. Its better than the 1998 Godzila film. Its a lot better. But it still doesn't make it great.
One key complaint is.....scroll down.....
For a Godzilla film , as the main selling point he's not in the film nearly as much as you'd expect. They should have called the film "The Humans vs Moto's ....With Godzilla !"

$93 million at the box office and Warner Brothers is already looking at a sequel.
It looks like the 2014 Godzilla is a success.

Your number 14 was called Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster when I saw it in the theater in 1974. Still the only one of these I've ever seen on a big screen (that may change soon). Naturally, I loved it. My mom took me and my brother and a bunch of my friends to see Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster for my birthday. The theater was packed and we were running late (because that's my mom) so the movie had already started, and my mom made the usher move some people so we could all sit together in the fifth row. (Yup. That's my mom!)
I saw it again within the last few years and I was amazed at how entertaining it is! I love the Godzilla movies, but some of them are more watchable than others, and I was very pleased that Smog Monster is so crazy, surreal, environmentally conscious, whacked out and FUN FUN FUN all at the same time.
And also, kinda creepy!
