AKA the Kevin O'Brien appreciation thread.
Let us mourn poor Kevin O' Brien, created during the unjustly-forgotten Alan Brodsky Iron Man run as Tony Stark's greatest confidant, and then driven nuts and turned into the supervillanous Gurardsman by Gerry Conway.
Ach! Sure'n the little people would be all atwitter had they known one of their own would receive such an ignominious end.
With Kevin in mind, who's your favorite supporting character from a long running series who was there one day and gone the next? I'm not looking for characters that were created to be permanent members of a supporting cast, but didn't work out.

Alex definitely comes to mind right away.. she's clearly the most famous one.
Iron Man has had a ton over the years... Eddie March (who was kinda proto-Rhodey), Rae LaCoste and Kathy Dare all come to mind (though she was almost a villain).
Hindsight Lad in New Warriors was pretty awesome.
Scorn over in the Superman from the triangle era

I'm going to get this name wrong, but the American kickboxing champ who guest starred in MoKF for a couple issues - was it Rufus Carter?
There are a bunch in MoKF, actually. e.g. Miss Greville, I remember liking, secretary who became Reston's love interest for a while.

When I started reading comics, the Avengers support crew was active in Hama's Avengers and Gruenwald's Captain America. I was a big fan of the short-lived concept, which basically seemed to unite several obscure supporting characters, including Kevin's brother, Michael O'Brien. Plus John Jameson, Peggy Carter, M'Daka, Raymond Sikorski, Fabian Stankowicz... I was a fan of the concept.

Exactly where I was going, Chris. I'd say Cameron Chase because she was sort of a supporting character to the whole DCU for a while after her book got dumped, but I don't think many would count her.

It really made better sense that the team had a whole support staff rather than Jarvis doing everything. I think they did away with it after the island ( hydrobase) was sunk in The Acts of vengeance crossover.

QwspFirst appearance Aquaman #1 (January–February 1962) Created by Jack Miller and Nick Cardy Species Imp Aliases Quisp Quisp or Qwsp is a mystical water sprite/imp in the DC Universe. The character, created by Jack Miller and Nick Cardy, first appeared in Aquaman #1 (Jan-Feb 1962). He was revised by Grant Morrison for the "Crisis Times Five" story arc published in JLA in 1999. Within the context of the stories, Quisp is a water sprite from the fifth dimension that befriends Aquaman and joins him on a number of adventures. Years later he remakes himself into a threat and convinces the imp Lkz to attack the third dimension. Powers and abilities Quisp can manipulate time and matter with a thought and can impose new laws of physics just by thinking.
