That has a pretty damn Idaho tilt to it.

Hope someone nominates me at some point. I like the idea of this challenge!

I'll get to it in the next 24 hours, but there won't be any pictures. I'm working on my list mentally now.

My Top 10, in ascending ranked order:
10. Ken Griffey, Jr. 9. Michael Phelps 8. Randy Johnson 7. Peyton Manning (mostly Tennessee Volunteers era, just a little NFL era) 6. Nolan Ryan 5. Jaromir Jagr 4. Barry Bonds (Pittsburgh Pirates-era, not big-head-steroids-era) 3. Sidney Crosby 2. Mario Lemieux 1. My older daughter
Since he wanted in, I'm letting @taxidriver1980 give his list next.

I’m gonna resist the temptation to include WWF stars (inspiring though some are) as it’s a quasi-sport. What follows are people who either inspired me as I followed their careers, or inspired me retrospectively (some on the list were in their primes before I was born, but I believe you can be inspired by people who were around before you were alive). The rest are people I followed closely. And, no, being inspired by Maradona does not include his “Hand of God” goal! 1. Pele 2. George Best 3. Diego Maradona 4. Ian Botham 5. Daley Thompson 6. Steve Davis 7. Nigel Mansell 8. Rocky Marciano 9. Michael Jordan 10. Tony Hawk

@taxidriver1980, are you much older than I thought? When did you see Marciano fight?

No, Marciano was one of the ones I was referring to when I mentioned those who inspired me before I was born. I did subscribe to the BOXERS DVD collection years ago, a Marciano DVD was one such edition. I’ve read a biography of him. Same with Pele and George Best. Their primes were before my time, but I have read enough, and feel I have an awareness of historical context, to appreciate them. Everyone else on the list is someone I was able to watch/follow.

Which is maybe to be expected given the divergence of where we live.

And even less than that about hockey after about 1985.

Welp the MLB regular season is over. This is the first time in my living memory that I have not watched a single inning or any Sox game for an entire season. Aside from seeing a pitch or two here and there when games were on the TV at work, I didn't watch any MLB all season long. Just didn't care, and that's saying a lot based on how much I love the game. Not going to watch any of this joke of a post-season either. Not even sure I will tune back in for next season.
