Well, Ireland got their first ever win in New Zealand after 117 years. The All Blacks played with 14 men after having a player sent off. At one point, they were down to 13 men, and there was a bunch of confusion over replacement players. Ireland dominated the game. Sadly, it's not much of a surprise. New Zealand will fall to 4th in the rankings come Monday. Even if we beat Ireland next week, I want Foster gone. Wales also claimed their first ever win in South Africa. Rugby was the winner on the day.

I see by his minor league stats the past 2 years that he shows plenty of home run power, barely hits above .200 and strikes out a ton. He could be the next Joey Gallo Yeah, I used to call that the Rob Deer prototype back in the day. -M Rowdy Tellez is another hitter in that category.

Ish Kabbible Prince Hal Welp Jeter Downs got called up for his second cup of coffee in the bigs today as more Sox found their way to the IL today and Devers is day to day with his back. I wonder what position player will wind up pitching for the Sox tonight? -M JD Martinez hit a soft liner to short tonight; might get him a mention in the highlights after the game. I think the last time he did that was during the Clinton presidency. Forget his power being gone; he can’t hit the ball hard, period. Maybe Devers’ back pain was aggravated by that try he made for a pop up last night, but my guess is that his recent back issues owe more to his Bogaerts is still hurt from that late May tumble and collision with Verdugo, for which I blame Verdugo for not taking charge... in the only left field in America smaller than the one behind our community center. No power, trouble checking his swing, can’t turn on inside pitches.

Bulletin: In the “Even a Blind Squirrel Finds a Nut Once has n a While” category, JD Martinez just stroked a gap double to left with two down in the eighth.
Jeter Downs should be on the All-Star team. He just scored the tying run on a Verdugo hundred-bouncer to left. Clearly he is way too good to be sent back to Worcester.
And now he scored the winning run on a Verdugo single to right.
Save them space in Cooperstown.

JD Martinez has turned into a reincarnation of Wade Boggs this season. Great batting average made up of lots of meaningless hits and clogging the base paths when he does get on. Plus neither played defense even though Boggs lined up at third base every night. -M

Jeter just drove in a run for the Sox, making it 5-4 Yanks in the tenth.
Also, though I wasn’t a huge fan of Boggs, he made himself into a very good third baseman.

And great baserunning by the rookie wins the game. Jeter beats the Yankees. Color me pleasantly surprised. And it's all down to a bobble by the Unsportsman man of the Year Josh Donaldson. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. -M

Clearly, Jeter’s headed for Cooperstown. Only if the WooSox are playing there later this season... -M

4 runs in the first 2 innings at Fenway is not enough

Spain 57 Canada 34. Nice to see a game live - and downtown, rather than way out of town, where most rugby internationals have been staged when they ave on in this area. Surprised at the gap between Spain and Canada - I a thought they were roughly at the same level but Spain looked significantly better than Canada today.
I'm still catching up on last week's international rugby games, which is why I haven't commented. Should get to them soon, though.

Gorman Thomas of the Milwaukee Brewers also comes to mind Robinson Cano sold to the Atlanta Braves for some discount coupons to IHOP

In 1977, Kingman hit homers for teams in each of the four divisions, nine with the Mets, eleven with the Padres, two with the Angels, and four with the Yankees.
