This was ruled an error, right? Or at least a single and an error, I hope. No matter how, though, a nice way to break in.

Correct, but as you say, a nice way to break in!

Sometimes balls hit to those spots play the outfielder and not vice versa.

I miss the old monuments that were on the field at the original Yankee Stadium Years ago, the crowds could leave the Stadium by walking across the field and visit the monuments. My wife’s brother - and he surely wasn’t the only older brother to do this - convinced her that the Babe was buried under his.

The Baltimore Orioles have put together a 10 game winning streak to move 1 game over .500, so now every team in the AL East has a winning record, making it by far the best division in baseball. The Orioles are now only 2 games behind the Sox and the Jays for the final Wild Card spot. If the Sox keep losing games to the Rays and Yankees in this stretch, they will find themselves behind the Orioles in the standings by the All Star Break.

I don't think that has ever happened in any North American Major League Sport (Could be wrong-not too aware about Hockey)

I don't think that has ever happened in any North American Major League Sport (Could be wrong-not too aware about Hockey) With the new CBA, there's only 3 wild card spots in each league, so 1 AL East will be left out no matter what. Even if the last 2 teams in the division tie and play a 1 game tie breaker for the last wild card spot, that's considered an extra regular season game (game 163) and not a playoff game. -M

So Jeter Downs gets his first MLB home run against the Yankees today, in an otherwise miserable game.
And did you see Sale's pinky after he got hit by that line drive? Ouch. Gave me the shudders just looking at it. I don't we will see Sale again until September. Another $20 or so million down the drain for another lost season for him. 11 starts total the last 3 season each at somewhere between $15 and $20 million per season.

Do that math.

Do that math. Sale and JD's contracts are the reason the Six are in this Luxury Tax reset, why Mookie is wearing Dodger blue, and why most likely Xander finishes his career in another uniform. And neither player has earned the money they are making with those contracts the last 3-4 years. This, as much as the championships, is Trader Dave's legacy with the Sox. It's also why Red Sox ownership hired Bloom, to try to keep the team competitive with his small market strategies while they reset under the Luxury Tax and get out from under those terrible contracts. He'll take the blame and the fans' ire for losing popular players while the team resets financially, and ultimately wind up as the fall guy the owners can cut loose when they are ready to do business again. -M
