The idea that you have to go to court to be able to make money off your likeness, while someone else is doing just that is really good and cool.
I won't watch a sporting event where the players get paid! It cheapens the sport.
I make exceptions for the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL.

Nice to see football on TV again even if it's only preseason.

Red Sox-Angels now headed into the 19th inning, tied at 4. They've played the equivalent of 2 full games. Sox starter Buckholtz went 8 strong and they still used everyone in the bullpen. Hembree, the dude they got in the Peavy trad e and just called up was a closer in the minors has given them 4 innings of scoreless relief, but next inning it's either a starter (Workman) on his throwing day or a position player pitching. Maybe Brock Holt plays his 8th position this year. Play of the nioght (until someone gets a game winner) is Pedroia stealing 2nd and third on the same play because no one covered 3B on the shift when he stole second.

And Workman comes in for bottom of the 19th, and gives up a homer to Pujols, the first batter he faces, Angels win in 19.... -M

Pedroia at his hustling best there in the 14th, but man, Tazawa can't get through an inning 1-2-3 anymore. You knew Workman would cough it up; he's another one who used up all his fairy dust last year.

Sorry if this was covered already, but is anyone following the suspension/possible firing of Steven A Smith? He worked for ESPN and I occasionally listened to his radio show. It seems he's yet another person to fall making stupid comments regarding the Ray Rice incident. He was suspended for saying that women have to be careful not to provoke men or something to that effect. He was suspended by the company for a week and then left after the suspension to work for Sirius Radio. I'm wondering if he was fired.

I saw his Twitter rant and knew he got suspended. I doubt they'd fire him right after the suspension and not make it public.

He's on First Take today, so I guess he didn't get the axe.

In the span of a few months Rory McIlroy has gone from golfer struggling with his new equipment and breaking up with his tennis pro fiance to forget Tiger, will Rory break all of Jack Nicklaus' records?
Two days with 19 inning games in a row, who's up for 19 innings today? I'm thinking Colorado/ San Diego would have a chance.
NASCAR driver Tony Stewart may not face criminal charges, but that wrongful death civil suit will be nasty.

I'm torn on the Stewart thing. It was stupid for Ward to walk out into the middle of the track during a race (caution flag or not) and confront a moving vehicle. That being said, other people managed to avoid hitting him.

Cespedes hits a game-winning home run for the Sox in the 8th inning, for the second game in a row. Three run shot Sunday, 2 run shot tonight against the Reds after nearly being beaned on the previous pitch. He keeps doing things like that and Sox fans might start to accept the man they traded Johnny Lester for.

Damn seven straight losses for the Buccos. At least Andrew McCutchen is back in the line up.

Damn seven straight losses for the Buccos. At least Andrew McCutchen is back in the line up. And Gerrit Cole is back on the hill tonight, so at least folks are getting healthy at the right time.
