So, at $3.20 for digital copies, I would actually be paying more than what the paper books cost? I was going to go digital for current books to save room, and then just buy collections for series I really enjoyed. There's no real incentive to do that, though if digital copies cost more. For something I cannot even actually own. Yeah, it's ridiculous. But if you want to wait a month or two the prices drop. I am not sure if there is ever a point where the digital copy is cheaper than a copy you can get on eBay, except for the occasion when something is out of print and in high demand. Even when you wait several months later for the $1.29 copy, seems the physical is usually about a buck by then. When you buy the digital trade for around 60 cents per issue, there would be a used physical trade for 25 cents per issue, so on. I'm ready to jump to digital when it starts making sense financially.

I was able to catch up on the some of the news last night surrounding Marvel's upcoming "Secret Wars" mega-super-colossal-universe changing-nothing will ever be the same event, and I am completely underwhelmed. Yes, I understand that new comic sales, by and large, are in the crapper and the Big Two will do anything they can to boost sales in the short term even at the expense of the long-term future of the characters, but I just don't care any more.
Being a huge Captain America fan, I was actually interested in seeing Sam take up the mantle from Steve and serve as Cap. Since the "man out of his own time" thing had long since played out and Steve was more or less just a really old guy in a young guy's body who happened to be the greatest soldier on the planet, the idea of having Sam, whose experiences and life were far different than Steve's, carry the shield intrigued me; his "America" was not the America that Steve grew up in, which could have lead to some interesting stories. It's funny that the real-world backlash against a black character being Captain America could have easily translated into the fictional world so easily, and yet, five issues into the series, they haven't explored that aspect at all. Now I read that the book is being cancelled/put on hiatus/who gives a crap at this point, most likely to be replaced in whatever horrific hybrid universe where Steve is once again a young man and they can go back to having him wear the costume, and that saddens me, because they are missing a great opportunity here to do something interesting instead of reverting to the same old things.
The one upshot to this whole thing is that Superior Iron Man is also getting cancelled, so maybe we'll get a non-douchebag Tony back. That book, which so desperately wanted to be Superior Spider-Man and failed on so many levels, is one of only a handful of books I've ever dropped before giving it six issues, but there was no way I was going to continue to pay $3.99 each month to be subjected to that torture.
Thankfully, they are leaving Moon Knight alone in the Secret Wars time period, which means that: 1. They are going to cancel it at some point in the near future and decided not to include it in the happenings, or; 2. They think it can stand on its own without being dragged into the crossover, or; 3. They've forgotten that they are still publishing it.

I could with Image, but not with Marvel.

Comics retailer Brian Hibbs doesn't sound too enthusiastic about Convergence or Secret Wars. Tilting at WindmillsI can see a lot of people thinking Convergence "doesn't matter" and taking two months off from DC. In the case of Secret Wars, I think people will follow the main series at least. The mini series will probably suffer a similar fate to the Convergence titles, with people saving their money until the real show starts in September. When Marvel announces their plans, I'll have my jumbo popcorn ready for the hijinks and teeth gnashing. As my comic shop owner said, "It looks like a real quiet summer."

My LCS is moving closer to me, so they'll be even MORE local, which is AWESOME!!!!!!!! I'll be able to pick up my books more frequently AND they'll be selling digital, too.

Also: When I went to pick up my books, I decided to check out Spider-Gwen. I got #2, but they said that #1 sold out as quickly as they got them in. Lone Star doesn't even have a #1 for a price I'm willing to pay. Wtf.
