Day 24/13: 278 lbs, 50" diameter 4/15: 277 lbs, 51.5" (measuring error on 4/13? Or does it really fluctuate like that??) 4/16: 273 lbs, 50.5" diameter I think I'll make the diameter readings less frequently, as they are either fluctuating wildly or I am reading them incorrectly. As for weight, it's nice to see me losing so quickly up front. As I recall last time, I dropped 10 pounds ultra fast (likely much of it was water weight) and then fought hard for the rest. Today was rough. I was aware of my hunger constantly. And yet I stayed on diet and truly truly enjoyed each of my meals today. I also tweaked my diet plan a bit in order to ensure I am getting maximum nutrition and minimum calories, fat, and carbs each day, all while truly enjoying what I eat. My stomach still feels way too big and way too full, even while I'm constantly hungry. I can't wait for that to go away. My natural body weight used to be 260-265 and, while I intend to go far far lower than that and hopefully stay low, the point is that 273 is grossly high for me, even if it is five pounds lower in only two days. So right now, my entire incentive is to feel physically better. From there, I'll work on feeling better about myself. Sorry for all the posts today. I'll try to keep it down to one or two per day from now on

Daily weigh-ins are how i did it last time, and it was a major motivator for me. I definitely see (and have experienced) the downside, but I now weigh myself at the end of every day (used to weigh at the beginning) so that I am working towards a daily goal.

Day 3
4/13: 278 lbs, 50.0" diameter 4/15: 277 lbs, 51.5" diameter 4/16: 273 lbs, 50.5" diameter 4/17: 270 lbs, 49.5" diameter
Really really good day! I'm not feeling so low energy that it's like being high anymore. Now I'm just mostly comfortably mellow, which is a welcome change from where my life has been for the past two years. I feel a lot less big and full today, which was still a big problem for me yesterday. As a new bonus, going to the bathroom has begun to feel GOOD as opposed to just being a necessity. Eating, drinking, relieving -- it all feels GOOD. I'm starting to like being in a body again. Been a long time since I could say that.
Hunger was still an issue today, but far less so than yesterday. I'm in no danger of cheating; I'd just like to be a little more comfortable and a little less preoccupied with food. I am currently using strawberry mini wheats, rationed throughout the day, to manage sugar levels and cravings (it also gives me the iron I need), but I will add fruit to this tomorrow. Right now, I eat all my fruit at the end of the day, and there's no reason to do it like that.
A great day overall, and now my girlfriend is doing a variation of my diet along with me, so that's pretty exciting too!

Day 4
4/13: 278 lbs, 50.0" diameter 4/15: 277 lbs, 51.5" diameter 4/16: 273 lbs, 50.5" diameter 4/17: 270 lbs, 49.5" diameter 4/18: 271 lbs, 50.0" diameter
This was to be expected. The water weight drops quick, and then it's a more gradual process, complete with fluctuations. When I did this last time around, I plateaued for a few days after losing 5 lbs of water weight (Day 5 was where I showed loss again), so I'm ahead in one respect.
As I am approaching this with a lot more experience than I had the last time around, I'm starting to like the idea of competing with my progress from four years ago. I started 13 pounds lighter, but I knew a lot less. I think I can do it.
Meanwhile, today was GREAT. Taking fruit to work made a huge difference. I felt only the slightest hunger today, nothing uncomfortable. I really think I'm doing this right this time!

Thanks so much, Icctrombone and @mechagodzilla! I really appreciate the support!! Day 54/13: 278 lbs, 50.0" diameter 4/15: 277 lbs, 51.5" diameter 4/16: 273 lbs, 50.5" diameter 4/17: 270 lbs, 49.5" diameter 4/18: 271 lbs, 50.0" diameter 4/19: 268 lbs, 48.5" diameter This is getting much much easier. And I passed my first two real tests, as well. Yesterday, I took a friend out after work who was having some troubles. He ate a full meal in front of me, and I sipped half a beer -- totally satisfied to be having a beer! Tonight we went over to our bi-weekly gathering of friends. They always serve dinner; my girlfriend and I brought our own (which I prepared). We even allowed ourselves to sample a little bit of the dinner being offered, and our dinner looked so good that a few people asked to try some of ours. After, when the desserts came out, we brought fruit and raw cashews. I have to admit I REALLY wanted the fresh cannolis, but I stuck to our desserts and felt mostly satisfied. And now, after two times consuming socially with friends, I'm still down two more pounds. Gotta love it! The diet is going way easier than last time. Part of that is familiarity with the experience, and part (I believe) is being more careful to ensure I am getting my proper nutrition. At this point, this is something I could keep up for the long term. It's a little hard at moments, but it still feels better than eating poorly. I rarely am tempted to try something I really shouldn't have, and I love the food I'm eating. I'm sure there will be some hard days ahead, but I'm grateful for the days I've had thus far. Feeling very very blessed right now. Thanks again for all the encouragement!

I like that your mind controls the situation. It shows that you have determination.

Day 6
4/13: 278 lbs, 50.0" diameter 4/15: 277 lbs, 51.5" diameter 4/16: 273 lbs, 50.5" diameter 4/17: 270 lbs, 49.5" diameter 4/18: 271 lbs, 50.0" diameter 4/19: 268 lbs, 48.5" diameter 4/20: 267.5 lbs, 49.0" diameter
4 years ago when I did this, I decided that the diet was so difficult that the only way I could get through it was to look forward to going totally off diet on weekends. This time around, I'm totally comfortable on the diet and so am only straying when necessary. Today, I took my girlfriend to see Phantom of the Opera. We hid fruit and nuts in her purse to eat at intermission but agreed on going off-diet for dinner. I chose the closest thing to diet friendly I could find on the restaurant menu, but it was loaded with salt and carbs. I didn't finish it, but I did enjoy it. Oddly, though, I missed my regular diet dinner and know I would have enjoyed that more. Anyway, having an off diet dinner threw off my cravings, so I ate a lot more fruit and nuts than usual tonight, and that is definitely throwing off my measurements tonight. But I'm glad I can go off diet and miss it. Easter tomorrow will prove equally tricky, but I still enjoy my diet, and I'm already ahead of 4 years ago in terms of staying on track. I used to gain 4 lbs each weekend and spend two to three days working it off. Not this time!

shaxper do you mostly rely on monitoring caloric intake to regulate weight loss? What kind of physical activity do you do to burn calories?

shaxper do you mostly rely on monitoring caloric intake to regulate weight loss? What kind of physical activity do you do to burn calories? I maintain a spreadsheet of exactly what I am eating each day to ensure I am getting approximately 100% of all my nutritional daily intake from food and supplements, except half the fat and carbs, and 1200-1500 calories. I am having planned snacks every three hours, drink TONS of spring water, and avoid processed foods as much as possible. As of yet, I am not exercising, but I plan to get to the gym once my energy levels have fully adapted to the calorie and fat change (I'm just about there as of yesterday).

Day 74/13: 278 lbs, 50.0" diameter 4/15: 277 lbs, 51.5" diameter 4/16: 273 lbs, 50.5" diameter 4/17: 270 lbs, 49.5" diameter 4/18: 271 lbs, 50.0" diameter 4/19: 268 lbs, 48.5" diameter 4/20: 267.5 lbs, 49.0" diameter 4/21 270.5 lbs, 50" diameter I'm totally calling today a victory. My girlfriend and I brought our own food to Easter Dinner but allowed ourselves to try a little of what was there. Then it was my daughter's birthday, and we took her out. She wanted to eat at one of those Dave & Buster type places where all the food is horribly unhealthy and you only get a good value if someone buys one of the combo meals that comes with game tokens. Well, guess who got stuck ordering off that menu? So my 270.5" is undoubtedly a reflection of all the undigested crap in my stomach. But today is a win because eating off diet was neither satisfying nor felt particularly good. I MISS my diet food and am excited to get back on track tomorrow. When I did this four years ago, getting through the week was a battle, and going completely and totally off diet for the weekend felt great. Now, I don't want to go off diet, and when I do, I don't really enjoy it. I'm winning. I've got this. I can't wait for tomorrow...
