Still fighting, She's been at the vets since Saturday and they are trying things to see what she responds to. We can't afford to have the dog scanned , they want 2 grand just for that. I'm trusting God for her healing , if it's his will. Thanks for asking. I'm not often a praying man, but I will do so tonight.

Today was the first one in AGES where I just plain didn't cheat. Didn't really feel the need, and I was proud of myself for that. Plus, by the end of the night, I was excited to FINALLY hit the 250s. And yet, coincidentally enough, tonight is the first night where I didn't lose. I mean, I've had nights when I didn't lose before, but that was always when I stepped waaaay off diet. So this is a bit of a disappointment. And yet I can take comfort in knowing how much I'm enjoying this new lifestyle and am not finding it difficult. I will stick with this and see that loss yet, just not as quickly as I'd hoped.
4 years ago I plateaued around this weight for a few days and then got past it. I guess I'm there again.

18 pounds is great. A lot of people lose 20 and then Take the foot off the gas. Keep it going.

Ok.. got on the scale today, since heading to Houston to visit my Dad (who's recovering from shoulder surgery on Wednesday, and already had to be moved to a solo room, closer to the Nurses' station in the rehab center, since he's still very confused and is wandering up and down the hallways naked. . . oy)
so expecting I'll be eating way off plan for the weekend.
but:
started back on plan on 4/1 at 218 1st check in was on 4/14 at 211.6 2nd check in was on 4/22 at 208.2 3rd check in was on 4/28 at 206.2 (followed by a week of "bad" eating, including a double hamburger at Avengers. . so waited until today to do next weigh in).
and today, 5/10, came in at: 201.8 lbs.
so a loss of 16.2 lbs in 6 weeks. I'm pleased with that, tho cannot wait to be in the 190's and hopefully can manage that by end of May!
that's my status. bert

Day 26
4/13: 278 lbs, 50.0" diameter 4/15: 277 lbs, 51.5" diameter 4/16: 273 lbs, 50.5" diameter 4/17: 270 lbs, 49.5" diameter 4/18: 271 lbs, 50.0" diameter 4/19: 268 lbs, 48.5" diameter 4/20: 267.5 lbs, 49.0" diameter 4/21 270.5 lbs, 50" diameter 4/22 268 lbs, 51" diameter 4/23 267 lbs, 49" diameter 4/24 265.5 lbs, 48" diameter 4/25 264 lbs, 48" diameter 4/26 263.5 lbs, 49" diameter 4/27 267.5 lbs, 48" diameter 4/28 266 lbs, 48" diameter 4/29 264 lbs, 48" diameter 4/30 263 lbs, 47" diameter 5/1 262 lbs, 47" diameter 5/2 263 lbs, 47" diameter 5/5 265 lbs, 47" diameter 5/6 262 lbs, 46" diameter 5/7 261 lbs, 46" diameter 5/8 260 lbs, 46" diameter 5/9 260 lbs, 46" diameter 5/10 259 lbs, 45" diameter
As much as I tried to keep a positive mentality, I couldn't stop thinking about being stuck at 260 lbs on Thursday. On top of that, I hadn't slept well and was exhausted, we got some really bad news at work, and it was staff appreciation day, so there was a banquet in the lounge. I was strong and avoiding temptation until the colleague who first inspired me to get back on this diet asked me if I was going to join her in partaking.
So I got weak and ate a lot. Not as much as I would have eaten before the diet, but a ton considering my diet. I felt physically lousy for the rest of the day. At weigh-in time, I hadn't been able to (ahem) void what I had eaten hours earlier, so I waited until this morning for the weigh in. And, as much as we've all discussed how morning weigh-ins get you the lower weight, the fact is my weight had been consistent from night until morning for well over a week now (though I'm less sure about the diameter measurement). So I got these much much better results this morning, once the cheat food had worked its way through.
I'm FINALLY in the 250s, and that feels pretty darn good. When you consider I started above 275, that feels even better!

Day 27
4/13: 278 lbs, 50.0" diameter 4/15: 277 lbs, 51.5" diameter 4/16: 273 lbs, 50.5" diameter 4/17: 270 lbs, 49.5" diameter 4/18: 271 lbs, 50.0" diameter 4/19: 268 lbs, 48.5" diameter 4/20: 267.5 lbs, 49.0" diameter 4/21 270.5 lbs, 50" diameter 4/22 268 lbs, 51" diameter 4/23 267 lbs, 49" diameter 4/24 265.5 lbs, 48" diameter 4/25 264 lbs, 48" diameter 4/26 263.5 lbs, 49" diameter 4/27 267.5 lbs, 48" diameter 4/28 266 lbs, 48" diameter 4/29 264 lbs, 48" diameter 4/30 263 lbs, 47" diameter 5/1 262 lbs, 47" diameter 5/2 263 lbs, 47" diameter 5/5 265 lbs, 47" diameter 5/6 262 lbs, 46" diameter 5/7 261 lbs, 46" diameter 5/8 260 lbs, 46" diameter 5/9 260 lbs, 46" diameter 5/10 259 lbs, 45" diameter 5/11 261 lbs, 46" diameter
It was a given I was going to allow myself to cheat freely today, with friends over and lots and lots of food for our bi-weekly gathering. As usual, I started the day healthy and then allowed myself to indulge whenever I wanted to, sampling things for taste and enjoyment, but returning to my diet for actual sustenance and satisfaction. While I ate a lot, it's nowhere near the amount I used to eat before the diet, and it got better as the day progressed and I found the heavier stuff less and less satisfying. No pizza for me, only one bowl of pasta, but a generous heaping of fruit, soft pretzel, and popcorn. I think what really did me in though (to my surprise) was the Twizzlers. They just SAT in my stomach, as they are the least food-like item I've yet tried to eat on this diet.
I realized by the end that, while i enjoy sweets in moderation, what I wanted most today was something mindless and carby to snack on without getting too full or feeling too much regret. Next time, I think I'll make some plain blue kernal popcorn with no salt or butter. I think I will find that far more satisfying.

Day 29
4/13: 278 lbs, 50.0" diameter 4/15: 277 lbs, 51.5" diameter 4/16: 273 lbs, 50.5" diameter 4/17: 270 lbs, 49.5" diameter 4/18: 271 lbs, 50.0" diameter 4/19: 268 lbs, 48.5" diameter 4/20: 267.5 lbs, 49.0" diameter 4/21 270.5 lbs, 50" diameter 4/22 268 lbs, 51" diameter 4/23 267 lbs, 49" diameter 4/24 265.5 lbs, 48" diameter 4/25 264 lbs, 48" diameter 4/26 263.5 lbs, 49" diameter 4/27 267.5 lbs, 48" diameter 4/28 266 lbs, 48" diameter 4/29 264 lbs, 48" diameter 4/30 263 lbs, 47" diameter 5/1 262 lbs, 47" diameter 5/2 263 lbs, 47" diameter 5/5 265 lbs, 47" diameter 5/6 262 lbs, 46" diameter 5/7 261 lbs, 46" diameter 5/8 260 lbs, 46" diameter 5/9 260 lbs, 46" diameter 5/10 259 lbs, 45" diameter 5/11 261 lbs, 46" diameter 5/13 258 lbs, 46" diameter
I can't decide if this is a good sign or an indication I've taken the diet too far. So, naturally, I allowed myself to cheat a bit over the weekend. And, honestly, I cheat a lot less each time I do it, realizing off-diet food doesn't really satisfy me. And yet I was in the most awful gastrointestinal pain for all of Sunday and today, as if there were things in my stomach that my body just didn't know how to process anymore. It's been a grueling two days in which I've felt insanely bloated and deeply uncomfortable. I didn't even bother to weigh myself yesterday, and I almost didn't again tonight.
But I did.
And I am officially down 20 pounds...even while I still feel bloated and miserable. Figure that.
As for next weekend, I'm taking two steps that should help with future off-diet eating:
1. Eat my diet food EVEN IF I'm eating other stuff too. When I skip my diet food, my body doesn't feel nourished, so I crave more food and end up eating a lot more junk that still doesn't nourish me.
2. Keep plain popcorn on hand for mindless snacking. If I really want that junkie satisfaction of being able to stuff my face with carbs once a week, even when I'm not hungry, I might as well minimize the damage.
If I follow these two rules, I think I'll do a lot better next time around. Again, I'm really not eating all that much off-diet food, but right now it clearly is more than my body is equipped to handle.

The bloat you are feeling might be from the carbs. Try having protein and vegetables for one entire day, you might be rid of the bloat. But you don't need my input, you are doing great. 20 pounds is awesome. Keep your foot on the gas, shaxper ! Don't get complacent with 20.

I should add that your idea of including body measurements are great. Credit where credit's due. That idea came from dupont2005 back in the day when I tried this program last time around. And the idea of maintaining a record of each weigh-in so as to better see my progress came from @bert. That's one of the best things about this thread/community. You don't just support me; you teach me.
