This is Day 10
Start date: 5-27-15 My starting weight: 218 lbs My goal: 180 lbs
Today's weigh in: 209 ( -1 from yesterday, -9 overall)
Yesterdays food:
630 am- banana / coffee
1010am chicken/ salad/ cole slaw
145pm 5 tangerines
540pm grapes
730 chicken bbq sauce/ salad
10pm grapes
Review of the day:
It was a good day but I felt I was too heavy on the fruit. There was some personal stuff going on so I lost my appetite for most of the day. I weighed myself this morning and it flickered on 208 for a second. My scale only records 1 pound increments, maybe I need a anew scale. 9 pounds in 9 days is about right for the food intake and activity level. I am Beginning to feel "lighter" and a bit faster on my job.

Day 19
My starting weight: 265 lbs My ideal weight for my height: 185 lbs My goal: 220 lbs by August (15 lbs per month for three months)
Today's weigh in: 250 lbs. (-1 lb from yesterday, -15 lbs overall).
I did it, Mo-fos. I did it! 15 lbs in 19 days puts me way ahead of my goal for this month. At this rate, I should be around 225 lbs in early July! At that point, we'll go on our annual vacation where I'll inevitably gain back some weight, and then hopefully get right back on the horse when I get home.
It occurs to me that, as I keep losing weight and I keep adjusting my diet to suit my needs, the ideal will be to arrive at something that feels less like a plan and more like a habit, where I feel nourished and satisfied each day but am consuming only enough to maintain whatever weight I finally arrive at; not gain anything back. It's feeling more and more like that's an attainable goal for me. Really, the only hard part for me yesterday was late last night, when my sugar levels dropped and I REALLY wanted to eat again.
Also got to watch out for when I'm sleep deprived, as I tend to confuse tiredness with hunger. I am very sleep deprived today, actually, as I drank Green Tea at 6pm and then couldn't fall asleep until 3:45am. I'll have to be careful tonight and maybe intentionally allow for an extra snack so as to avoid a breakdown and binge.
My plan for today:
Breakfast: 1 serving of vanilla yogurt with sliced fresh banana mixed in. Multivitamin and Calcium/Magnesium supplement. Green tea (as per the4thpip)
Lunch: Three slices of American cheese on non-enriched wheat bread.
Throughout the day snack: Half a serving of dry Frosted Mini-Wheats (for iron and fiber)
Dinner: Chicken breast marinated in soy and cumin, fresh steamed spinach.
Other snacks (if needed): garlic clove, banana, baby carrots, sliced pineapple, raw unsalted cashews

Congratulations on the weight loss, Shaxper. I do need to chime in on the Frosted Mini-Wheat vs fruit discussion. There is a difference between the natural sugar you get from fruit and processed sugar in how we metabolism said sugars. Now, honestly, if you're only eating half a serving of Frosted Mini-Wheat, it's not going to hurt you. The only thing it could do is keep you used to those processed sugars, then again, it can keep you satiated enough to not binge on candy, cakes, etc. This really depends on the individual.
I do suggest once you start exercising to allow yourself cheat meals every week. I do the 90% healthy/10% cheat plan. I eat four to five times a day during the week (very healthy) so I get two to three reasonable cheat meals a week, usually isolated to Friday and Saturday. I say this because since I've been doing this, I maintain my 90% healthy eating and never feel deprived or like life isn't worth living since I can't have a few slices of pizza or ice cream.

The sacrifice is worth the prize. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!! Just a note on feeling tired , for many years on my route when I felt tired ,I would buy packs of cookies or other really bad food to keep me going. I think there's a primal feeling to get your energy levels up my consuming calories that always pops up when your tired or sleep deprived.

I did some research on the sugar matter. The body should not consume too much sugar but sugar from fruit is better than sugar from candy. At least with fruit your getting other benefits like Fiber ,vitamins and minerals. Sugar from candy gives you zip nutrition. This is from authoritynutrition.com/is-fruit-good-or-bad-for-your-health/Many people now believe that because added sugars are bad, the same must apply to fruits, which also contain fructose.
However… this is completely wrong, because fructose is only harmful in large amounts and it is almost impossible to overeat fructose by eating fruit.
But I guess too much of anything can be bad. ( except comics, that is) hee hee

I am seeing a noticeable difference in my arms and legs and waist. I can see tricep definition in my arms, and they are tightening up. I can see this without flexing. I can feel the muscles and definition in my upper thighs. I can see my waist thinning and tightening up on the sides and curving in. I'm stoked.

I can vouch for that info on fruit since I eat three bananas a day, plus pineapple and melon, and stay in good shape and never gain weight. Sure, I do an intense exercise program, but I have little doubt that if I substituted candy for that fruit it would show regardless. The main reason I eat three bananas is to get what I need daily in terms of fiber.

I thought it was common knowledge that the sugar from fruit, and the sugar from candy/junk food, were different sugars and processed differently by the human body?

I thought it was common knowledge that the sugar from fruit, and the sugar from candy/junk food, were different sugars and processed differently by the human body? For years, they thought that the fructose found in fruit was healthier for diabetics than the glucose from industrialized sugar. When they found out that the opposite is true, an entire section of food from the diet section of the supermarket just disappeared here in Germany. For decades, we'd been poisoning our diabetics with fructose!

I do P90X3. This will be my third time through it so far. I love working out at home with minimal equipment and it's right up my ally. Plus the workouts are only 30 minutes each.

And where the Hell have I been that I did not get this information? My mom was a type 1 diabetic my entire life.

That incudes a Sunday family brunch once per week, as well as a variety of other events that pop up. I absolutely believe that you have to live a little sometimes Thanks for the sound advice!

I don't have the time to call up research right now, but there are many who would disagree with this. Personally, I know my sugar spikes if I have too much fruit, and it also deters my weight loss.
