Was doing really well with being 100% back on diet today, even while taking the family to a fair (TONS of foods and aromas!) And the larger candy store in North America (note: none if this was my idea). By the time we got home, I was miserable, so I dove into the fridge and doubled my calories consumption for the day. Tomorrow, being 4th of july, will be even worse. Oh well. It's funny but if you'd eaten something from the fair, you probably wouldn't have dove into the fridge. I had a Carmel apple at the fair in lieu of lunch (280 calories, no fat). Anything else there would have been far worse for me than what I ate at home. Up 3 lbs today and planning to eat freely. As always, I know I can take it off later. Each time I've said so in this thread, I have, so no guilt today

This is 7-5-15
Start date: 5-27-15 My starting weight: 218 My goal: 180 lbs Today's weigh in: 207 (+1 from yesterday, - 11 overall)
Review of the day: July 4th had me celebrating with wine and a few other off the plan things ,so I'm okay just going up a pound. I lifted weights in the afternoon and sat around the rest of the day watching the soccer final ( Go Chile!).

Day 48242.5 lbs this morning (+2 lbs from two days ago) 22.5 lbs down / 62.5 lbs to go A few weeks back, I vividly recall 243 lbs being the elusive weight that I could not hit no matter how hard I tried. Now, ironically, it's the weight I can't get back to even after two days of total binging during 4th of July festivities. Really, the challenge remains getting back into the mindset of eating 100% on diet again. We're going on vacation in three days, and I fully intend to go off diet then, so I really want to try to get back into the rhythm of the diet before then so that it's not totally unfamiliar to me when the vacation is over and it's time to get back on track. My goal had been to be at 235 lbs before leaving for vacation. That probably won't happen now, but it's still reasonable to assume I could be at 238. Where I was a week ago today: Well the gauntlet of weekend parties has now ended. This morning, I weighed in at 243.5 lbs (+1.5 lbs after two of the three parties) and we had a third today. I'm confident it's weight I can lose quickly again. So only 1 lb ahead of last week. Not great. Let's see if I can do better over these next few days.

Plateaud at 210 for several days - I think that's my sign that the easily-lost pounds are coming to an end.
Finally snuck under 210 yesterday morning, then went for 8-9 mile bike ride in the afternoon. This morning, I'm down to 208.2, which is 11.8 pounds down.
I'm going to cycle to/from work tomorrow (~20 mile round trip, a fair bit hillier than the rides I've been doing). Each ride is a burn of around 500 calories, so I'm looking at around 1000-1100 calorie deficit each day (assuming I stick to 1800 calorie limit for food), which should equate to around a pound lost for every 3 days that I cycle.

This is 7-6-15
Start date: 5-27-15 My starting weight: 218 My goal: 180 lbs Today's weigh in: 210 (+3 from yesterday, - 8 overall)
Review of the day:
8 white castle cheeseburgers , fries. This is my Kryptonite.
There's no way I ate an additional 10'500 calories above my norm but the salt is hanging onto my body and that's what the scale says when it does. I also failed because I neglected to have salad. Salad pushes things along.

Are you weighing yourself at the same time each day? Realistically, there's no way that a +/- 3lb weight change is a real change in your physical make-up, it's most/all going to be differences in hydration and the mass of any ingested and not-yet-expelled food. I know from weighing myself at night and the following morning, that I'm typically 2-3 lbs lighter in the morning. Having said that... 8 cheeseburgers! Dude, seriously!

Actually, I weigh myself at the same time each day, and do it four to five times to ensure the weight I get is reliable, and I sometimes lose or gain that much in a day when my eating habits change significantly. I suspect it has more to do with water retention and undigested food in the system than a significant change to body mass.

Day 49Well, getting back on diet yesterday didn't work out because I completely forgot I had yet another party to go to. Sigh. 243 lbs this morning (+0.5 from yesterday) 22 lbs down / 63 to go Where I was a week ago today: Today's weight: 243 lbs (-5 lbs from yesterday). 22 lbs down / 63 lbs to go Well, the three parties in three days are now over with, and I've gained a total of 1 lb from eating whatever I wanted through all of them, which I've no doubt I'll take off quickly. With all that's been going on, I still worry that I no longer have the discipline I used to with this diet. Time will tell. But It's good to see that I've instinctively become used to eating a lot less. An entire week of progress lost. This is definitely the wrong trajectory. I am secluding myself in a coffee shop today and have brought nothing but a bag of shredded wheat with me. I plan to order only green tea. I am crazy hungry, but I know that's an artificial hunger -- the kind I battled and defeated at the start of this journey. Time to teach my body who is in charge once again... Back on diet today. Will allow myself a nice dinner if I can be good until then. I know I can.

Although, White Castle burgers are a third the size of a regular burger. Still, shouldn't of had it. I weigh myself first thing in the morning because its the most accurate measurement.

Starting weight: 243.2 Week One weight: 241.6 Week Two weight: 239.4 Week Three weight: 237.0 Week Four weight: 234.4 Week Five weight: 234.0 Week Six weight: 231.6 Week Seven weight: 231.0
I'm almost certain I'm just having an anomalous day due to retaining water and poo. I was at 229.8 yesterday, and there's no way with what I ate yesterday that I actually gained a pound. Annoying, but I'm sure it will straighten itself out.

I weighed myself last Friday at 271 and before I swam this morning (really tired now, weigh myself again) - Before Workout weighed at 272.5 pounds so I gained 1.5 pounds over the 4th of July Weekend.
I haven't swam in years - more like 7 years and I used to swim 20 laps (1,000 meters) and today I've only managed to do 12 laps and stop right there. My goal is to reach 20 laps sometimes in early part of August and hopefully I'll be able to do a mile (32 laps) within a year. I was a competitive water polo player in College and a Mile Swim was considered a warm-up then. Now, it will be a challenge to get me there. So, I hope to do that by next Spring at the earliest.
Tomorrow, I will do walking the 1/8 mile track that they have and planning on walking the track 16 times for 2 miles and do some stationary bike afterwards. I will be repeating this process every two days. I can only do swimming, walking the track, and stationary bike as a part of my exercise routine.
I will report my weight every Friday.

Will allow myself a nice dinner if I can be good until then. I know I can. How do you get on with things like carrot sticks and nuts? There is a certain amount of research that suggests that the amount of chewing that you do (as well as what time you eat*) is related to feelings of satiety, regardless of the amount actually eaten. (* other research suggests that your body gets used to being fed at certain times of day, and so you feel hunger then, even if you don't need feeding. I've been experimenting with mixing up my meal times (which were fairly erratic anyway), and I've noticed that getting past the mid-day hunger pangs I will often then not be particularly hungry for an hour or two later - so I eat lunch later compress the time available for wanting snacks before dinner)
