It's been a mixed week - my weight blip has taken several days to overcome, which I've found really frustrating, and has resulted in many an accusing glance (and a few harsh words) towads the scales. Finally got down to a new low today, at 199.0 (21 down / dunno how many to go - maybe about 25-30*)
Conversely, on the exercise front, it's been a really good week. I've commuted on my bike every day, which is the first time I've ever done more than 3 days consecutively, and I haven't struggled at all with the extra days, though my glutes and thighs are a bit achey. Scored 4 new fastest ever trips - 2 each on the inward and homeward courses, though a lot of that is down to how much headwind there is and what colour the traffic lights are when I arrive at them! Still, looking back, I've taken 16 minutes off the time for the inward course, from the point where I restarted this year down to my best time this week (down from 51 minutes to 35, for just under 10 miles)- very happy with that.
101+ miles and 7+ hours in the saddle have given me a grand total of about 6/10s of a pound in nett weight loss, which isn't much, but I'm feeling much fitter, so I'll take that and hope to shift some poundage over the next couple of weeks.
(* I'm aiming more for a body shape rather than a specific weight. I think my ideal weight is somewhere around 170-175, but that would include balancing the weight of the lard coming off and putting some more muscle on. At the moment, I'm not doing any weight training at all)

Garth, you're doing a great job in being faithful to your exercise regiment. I would love to bike to work as much as you, Maybe I'll try a few days in a row next week.

I think the real keys to this are (1) the weather isn't too bad at the moment, and (2) the commute is actually faster by bike than by any other method I can use - getting the exercise in as part of the commute completely eliminates the opportunity to skip the exercise, and takes no further time out of the day. Where I'm really struggling is trying to find time/motivation to get restarted back at the gym - I have a 24-hour gym just up the road from me that I've been a member of for over 2 years, and I haven't used it yet

Woke up after a full day of eating off diet and really did not like what I saw. Going to try waiting a few hours and then weighing myself again...

Yeah, I like to empty out to get my true number. Sometimes it doesn't happen until after I left my home. Garth, I feel your pain. My gym is 3 blocks away and I don't go. I might have to go ninja and go at 5am.

I'm still struggling to get back on track. I haven't weighed myself yet this week, going to wait until Monday and start up again with the daily weigh-ins. It's not what I'm eating that's the issue, it's my sleep schedule, which is messing up my eating schedule, resulting in an extra late-night snack that does me no good at all. Going to try to get back on the correct sleep schedule tomorrow.

This afternoon , I road my bike back from work. I did 5.25 miles in 24 minutes. I'm going to try Garth's lead and ride to and from work next week. I don't think In can do it every day but I'll try 3 times.

Did not get a chance to weigh myself again today, as I was single handedly setting up my mother's birthday party (which had to be extravagant as she just came back from a serious health scare). I was totally on diet for most of today, but ate a normal amount of "real" food at the party, along with a can of pop and a small slice of cake. I don't expect to be back to 235 tomorrow. There's always Monday...

So yesterday didn't work out at all. My wife made this amazing breakfast that I just couldn't resist, and that set me off on the wrong foot for the day, especially when we had a refrigerator full of leftovers from the party the day before. Normally, I could have resisted the leftovers, but once I was off-diet, my cravings went off-diet as well.
Today, I have to do lunch with a co-worker, so that will be off-diet too. Planned this meeting over a month ago.
I'm back down to 237 as of this morning (a lot better than the 241 I was looking at the other day), but I want to be 235 again. Hopefully, I'll have the discipline to get back on diet after lunch today. Maybe then it will happen.

Yep. I jumped up 2 pounds over the weekend. From 206 to 208. I usually go up on the weekends but I ate so much bad food I'm happy it's not 210. Today is another day.

I went to see Man from Uncle last night (with a bunch of friends) and came home rather late and skipped working out today because my friends kept me awake until 2am in the morning. Just got up.
BTW - The Man from Uncle movie is overhyped and I consider it a bomb. Arnie Hammer can't act. Cavill as Napoleon Solo was average at best.

Going to try to get back on the correct sleep schedule tomorrow. Well, that was an epic fail. Instead I ended up in the emergency room last night, which led to me sleeping until noon. Apparently I've got something called epipolic appendagitis, which I guess is when a blood vessel in your intestinal area gets twisted up and inflamed. Good news is it's rarely of any danger, and usually goes away by itself. Bad news is, it hurts, and there's no treatment for it. So I'm just lying around for the next few days hoping it goes away, which is also going to screw up my exercise routine. Oh well, that's life. I'm just going to do my best to keep eating right, and once things calm down I can get back on the diet track again.

We're pulling for you.

Back on diet tonight. Been away from my spinach salad and yogurt for so long that it really felt GOOD to have them again. Hoping for good returns on the scale tomorrow morning!
