I got back to the gym today after 24 days off. I'd been going regularly 3-4 times per week for about a year starting in June 2014, doing 3 miles on the elliptical (about 21-22 minutes, which is a pretty decent pace), then hitting a lifting regimen to work my chest, arms, and shoulders; I'd dropped about 20 lbs in total weight, but it was probably about 25-30 in fat while adding 5-10 in muscle.
Problem was, around the middle of June, I fell off the wagon, first getting a little sick and taking a week off to recover, then going on vacation, then just being lazy. I've tried to get back into a routine since then, but it's always been a week on, then two off, a week on, a week off. Part of my problem is that I have to get up really early in the morning to be able to do it (around 4:15) so I can get my full workout in before starting work.
This past week, after my weight had crept up about 6 lbs from June and I could tell that I was losing muscle definition, I started riding my recumbent bike at home. 45 minutes on a hill course doing about 13-14 miles, which isn't as good as actually riding outside but it's something; I have been watching the first season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. while I do it, to keep myself occupied, so I get one episode in per workout.
At the gum this morning, I just did my lifting routine, since I rode my bike last night. I only had to get up at 4:45, which wasn't so bad, and I think this may be the future of my workouts. I'm probably not doing as well for myself by substituting the recumbent for the elliptical, but the extra 30 minutes of sleep was pretty nice. We'll see how it goes.

Day 106
Today's weigh-in: 232.5 lbs (-2.5 lbs from yesterday, +0.5 lbs from all-time low)
32.5 lbs down / 52.5 lbs to go
Man! It only took me one day to lose all but half a pound of the weight I gained from going off-diet this weekend. Last week, it took me three days, but after that, I lost weight at a crazy fast rate. If I can still lose a pound or more per day, starting on Tuesday instead of Thursday, I can be in an amazing place by the end of the week. It would be AMAZING to finally hit the 220s!
I'll say it again -- cheating on the weekends is really working for me. It's nice to be able to tell myself when fighting a craving that I'll be able to snack all I want come Friday night. My body still hasn't really figured out that snacking like that isn't going to feel good after all, so it's a lesson I'll have to reteach myself once a week.
But yeah, I am very excited to be here at this point. This is going to be a great week.

As I expected, I gained some weight after going off diet this weekend. How much though I'm not sure. The scale says 3 pounds, but I'm pretty sure that's impossible, as I only cheated on two meals and I don't think I ate close to 3 pounds worth of calories in just those two meals. It's quite frustrating, especially since I hadn't really made much progress the last few weeks. But there's nothing for it other than to stay the course and keep plugging away.

I haven't worked out in the past few days because I was helping my brother with issues with my Dad, but I did attend a Water Polo Meeting yesterday and did swim 5 laps again for additional verification purposes. So, I'm qualified for League Play that will begins in September and lasting to the 2nd Week of November. Everybody will play 20 matches and I've already met my teammates and I was assigned Right Wing to take advantage of my arm strength. I'm the starter on that team of 14 players - One over the qualified limit of 13 players because of our age. All matches are 4 periods long and each period last 10 minutes, one over the limit of 9 in Senior Play. So, having said that - I will be playing a match a week either Tuesdays and/or Thursdays in the afternoon from 2 PM and I already got my new swim trunks for team play. It will be a lot of fun for me and nice to meet new friends too.

Today's Weigh-in: 233 lbs (+0.5 from yesterday, +1 from all-time low) 32 lbs down / 53 to go Grrrrrrr. I was perfect yesterday, but, while my intake was appropriate, I also did a lot to mess with my metabolism in hindsight. For one, I had to cut Green Tea out of my diet after 1pm because even the decaf stuff was keeping me awake at night. I always have Green Tea after each meal to help metabolize what I've eaten. Also, I had bourbon last night. Usually, that doesn't have an effect on me (I think the Green Tea counters it), but the two in conjunction appear to equal slower metabolism and temporary weight gain. Very frustrating, both as I like my sleep at night and I like my bourbon

Weighed in at 209 this morning. It's bad but yesterday I was 211. I did a lot of binge eating this weekend and especially bread. But yesterday i ate clean for the most part rolling in fruit and vegetables. sigh

I did a lot of binge eating this weekend and especially bread. You have the power to stop this if you want it enough. Know that.

I made a mental note to remind myself on Friday to get a weight reading.

Cheated a bit tonight. I think the feeling extra hungry because I'm leaner than I've been in years and yet having the scale tell me I'm not is getting to me. I had a bowl of mac n cheese and a few handfuls of potato chips. Not end of the world bad, but it may prevent my losing again tomorrow, and I really really really want to be 229 lbs by Friday. Probably not going to happen now.

I had a solid day eating wise and I capped it off with a 5 mile bike ride at about 845pm. Lets see what the scale says tomorrow.

Holy crap, I ate too much tonight.
Not in terms of eating anything bad. Just volume. I guess I was eating too fast, because I didn't realize how full I was. But I sure as hell realized it afterwards; I've felt about to explode all night.
It was just some extra baked potato, so hardly anything in the way of fat/calories. And I'm sure it will just tick the scale up a little bit for a day or so before vanishing.
But man. Not comfortable.
Bad stomach. Bad.

Last working day before holiday, so I'm signing off from the thread for a couple of weeks - today's weight is 194.6 (25.4 down from peak, probably something like that away from optimum).
Will be happy to come back from holiday below 200, and ecstatic to be below 196 - but I'm not holding my breath for either. On the bright side, "Greece and chocolate" don't really mix because of the heat, so my main source of additional calories will be largely off the agenda; unfortunately, "Greece and Ice cream" and "Holiday and cold lager" go together really well...

Today's weigh-in: 233 lbs (same as yesterday, +1 from all-time low)
32 lbs down / 53 lbs to go
Very upset this morning. Started this week off so much better than the last one, and yet a glass of bourbon, a bowl of mac n cheese, and no late night green tea, and now I've made no progress at all this week. Fortunately, our plans for Friday got cancelled, so that's one more day I can choose to stay on diet this week and get rid of all this.

I'm pretty excited to report that I am -4 pounds down from yesterday. I got on the scale and it said 205. I can't believe it. I weighed myself a few times just to make sure. The last 2 days , I've stayed away from carbs and the bike ride last night helped, too. My all time low in this diet is 203 and It's in my sights. Unfortunately, this is labor day weekend and , additionally, My wife turns 50 on saturday so she and I are going out to dinner tonight to celebrate. She's flying out to Chile for the weekend , so we won't be together.

Now you have all the incentive in the world to get totally focused on your diet for today and tomorrow, hit your all-time low, and then celebrate sensibly over the weekend. Congrats, George. We knew you could do this! Doesn't it feel great?
