Then I have bad news for you, cause Bagley is on it for the next hundred+ issues. Oh, I'm well aware of this. I actually like a lot of Bagley's art. The problem I have is that there are simply waaay too many close up shots. I'm not a fan of the overly cinematic approach to comic book stories.

My first stop will be Ultimates and Ultimate Spider-Man. I browsed in some detail the first few issues of USM last night and I have to admit that I'm not crazy about Bagley's art. Me neither; Marquez, Pichelli, Immonen and Hairsine, those were the good ones. I hope you don't get "burned", before reaching their work on the character.

That's gonna be a problem. The stories are both (A) cinematic and (B) decompressed, and I have to think they were designed to be read in trades. Ultimate Marvel Team-Up is the exception, but 'cause it's Bendis writing the best arcs are also the longest.

Ultimate FF : The original run was by Ellis, right? It was really really bad. But I remember the Mark Millar issues were surprisingly good. Didn't those also introdice the Marvel Zombie concept? I quite liked UWolverineVSHulk, it was beautiful and fun.

Ultimate Fantastic Four started with Bendis and Millar, followed by Ellis and after him came Carey. Millar started his solo run with issue 21. Hulk/W would be one of my miscellaneous picks too.

Ah yeah, right, with the initial run drawn by one of the Kuberts... But Wasn't the solo Millar run the one that introduced Marvel Zombies?

I read almost the entirety of the Ultimate Spider-Man series with the exception of the final arc where ultimate Peter Parker died. And I'm also a fan of the Ultimate Spider-Man animation series.

You should know that I provided the link to USM, at the end of this post. Earth-2149 was introduced by Millar right off the bat, in his solo run.

I never did understand the whole point of the Ultimate line of books. It all feels like a flimsy gimmick to me, an excuse to multiply the number of titles devoted to the most popular characters. I read some of the Frank Cho ones just because I like his art on superhero books.

DC does reboots, Marvel doesn't, but they have this, which is kind of similar, an updated version of the classic characters. Also, not being the "real deal", you can be more daring, both with the characters as well as with the surroundings.
