Sorry but Ditko's art didn't age gracefully.

Gawd, I love The War that Time Forgot. I've only read three or four of them but I think it may be the most comic-bookiest idea ever devised. You may be right, especially given the culture in which it was birthed, since every kid (male kid, anyway), of the early- to mid-baby boomer era was not just enamored with, but obsessed with, dinosaurs and army men. Ask any old bastard of a certain age and you'll see.

I checked the older contest via the link Hoosier X thoughtfully provided--some really great, creative selections. But a couple of the older covers aren't displaying in my view or may have been removed--so if this JO gem was among those previous entries, please let me know and I'll choose another cover. Thanks!

I'd actually go with Turok, Son of Stone as the ultimate comic-bookiest idea ever devised-- Native America hero hunting dinosaurs with a bow and arrow in a land that time forgot? C'mon!-- but War that Time Forgot would definitely be top five.

Did I hear people disrespecting Steve Ditko in this thread? 1960's Ditko A+. 2000 Ditko D-. Sorry man, even Babe Ruth was striking out a lot in his last year.

Past about 1970 or so, I have no use for the work of Steve Ditko. So nyah, Chris!

Wait - how did the Superman office get the "It's plane, it's a bird..." line wrong? Also, it's deeply transphobic to state that Jimmy is not a man just because he wears women's clothing all the time.

Especially since wearing women's clothes is about the most normal thing that Jimmy does. I'm surprised they weren't commenting about how he's not a giant turtle, a human porcupine, or stretched out of shape, or....
