Ah ok. I asked since a friend of mine who lives in Philly finds some for me every now and then, and get them for dirt cheap as most people have no clue what those are. I have about 12 volumes I think, but there are sooooo many!!! For me the early industrial is more stuff like mid to late 70ies Cabaret Voltaire, Throbbing Gristle, Non, SPK, Whitehouse, Nurse With Wound, Controled Bleeding, 23 Skidoo, Negativeland, Monte Cazzaza and the likes, but I see what you mean

oh yeah, once a DJ was signed up for the service, a new double pack (typically 8 mixes on two Vinyl) would come out each month.
so there ARE a lot.
but fact is, some of the best known mixes of some songs, ARE the Razormaid mixes.
for example:
or
oh, and love Controlled Bleeding ("Words of the Dying" is a fantastic song)

Glad to see the new Duran Duran album 'Paper Gods' (Sept 2015) will also be on vinyl but it's being packaged with a lousy t-shirt and sold as a deluxe package. Honestly, the band should hire me to do their album art and t-shirts since I won't be caught alive wearing that shi**y t-shirt. is that not among the worst album covers you have ever seen? I GET what they were going for, and I also get all the references. .but good lord, what a horrid cover. Agreed, even DD fans hate the artwork. I have my cd software to make my own custom made cd jacket using photos of the band.

Since we're on the subject, my favourite Razormaid remix is their mix of Frankie Goes to Hollywood's cover of Edwin Starr's "War" from 1984. I had a cassette dub of this as a 12 or 13 year old, which I played to death, but I've never actually owned a copy of it. Great stuff though...
Very impressive vinyl collection there, Arthur Gordon Scratch.

and I went and looked. .the "sister service" that remixed the Industrial and "alt" songs for clubs was "Hot Traxx"
tho those tended to be single vinyl each month, with white labels (3-4 songs remixed each time)

Nice ones! A personnal fave Razormaid mix is this : that's a really good one too! for the most part, I enjoyed the mixes. . tho there was always at least 2 songs per album that I had never heard of (or a band I wasn't familiar with). . and those tended to get skipped over

I too, still have BOXES of cassettes. . but they tend to be the stuff I was just never able to find on CD at the time (I'm sure since released. . for example, lots of "foreign" Industrial, such as A'Grumph, or Pankow.. . I only had the Cassette, so wasn't willing to toss without a CD replacement.

Pshaw!. . talking CASSETTE in a Vinyl thread! (hehehe). Hey man, don't be hating on the analogue hiss. Most of my cassettes have gone, either replaced on vinyl of CD or just consigned to the rubbish bin. However, I still have a box full of old recordings of various bands and music projects that I've been involved in over the years (and I really need to convert those to digital .wav files and back them up on CD one day). I also still have a collection of mix tapes that friends and lovers made for me back in the day. A mix tape is a precious and lovely gift to receive from someone and should always be treasured.

I just ignored all the posts about music (as opposed to stereo gear), because the chances I'll have any interest whatsoever in what's featured are, let's face it, extremely slim. Same reason I stopped paying attention to the couple of music threads while they were still brand new. It's not that other people's tastes tend to be soul-crushingly pedestrian at best & abominably horrible ato worst, but rather that ... uh ... ... ummm ... ... OK, never mind. Jesus. This statement just needs numbers.

Winter is here, even if there's no snow to yet accoount for it, I wake up usualy late morning, and the sun goes down before 15:30. Yet in the past few weeks, I spent an insane amount of time in my record shack, totally outside any timeframe. I got a few new records in (Recoil - Hydrology (LP, Album - electropop/leftfield/industrial, 1988), Baby Pop - Past And Future (12", house music, 1996), Pher - Off Course (12", experimental techno, 1995)), but mostly, I've been listening to tons of records I've had for decades (or not) and hadn't visited in a long time... It was also a great way to get rid of many records that only had relevancy and appeal at a certain time and were now devoid of it. It feels great to clean up the shelves. I also got to do lots of "vinyl hospital", cleaning wax of dirt and static, repairing sleeves, replacing inner sleeves, taking care of the "kids". But most of all, I'm just happy with how inspirational this all still is, finally taking the time to get deep into records I bought on the suspicion they would reveal hidden layers of gold and be more relevant in the future than when bought. As I got two turntables and a mixer, i of course also had lots of fun playing Claudine Longet into Tones On Tails into Bo Didey into the Butthole surfers into Prince ino midwest acid techno into Burundi traditional singing into italian bossa nova into droney industrial electonics into Moondog into Sheila Jordan into Unsane into the B 52's into Freestyle Fellowship into Stevie WOnder into Chicago house into Carly Simon into John Fahey into Kool Kieth and so on! This next summer, I'll be building a shack for the comics right next to it

Just got this on wax : VARIOUS ARTISTS - 8, 8.5, 9 12" (yes the name of the artist is Various Artists...) I bought it on CD when it came out back in 1997 because it had one extra track remixed by Autechre, but I learned to love the feature tracks more and more over the years, so I was happy to finally track this one out at a decent price. This probably is my favorite techno 12", or at least the kind of techno that people who hate techno would enjoy as well. It is very melhancolic, moody and monotoneous, but it's just very beautiful, try it out if you're curious!
