Probably the toughest pick yet, but I'm voting for Prince Hal's pick. God that's powerful !
Ben-Day Dot and mwgallagher were very close as well.

Rob Allen.
I'm not a big airplane guy and couldn't come up with anything I really liked for myself for this one. If I had thought of it, I would have picked the one Slam Braley did, because I've always liked that cover, even though I only remember it from ads inside other Marvel comics. I also liked several other, especially Mwgallaher's and Prince Hal's. But Rob Allen's seems the most aeronautical to me - the sort of linear airborne speed and so on. Who was the artist?

Remember that printing your choice in bold makes it easier to count. Especially if you name "also-rans" in your post as well.

Cole, and I found the cover by accident. I was searching the GCD for my dad's old favorite, Tailspin Tommy, and I just entered "tailspin" in the search field and didn't even notice that one of the results was actually called Tailspin Comics. But as soon as I saw the cover I knew I wanted to use it. Thanks for the kind words!

But it's an awesome cover. I wonder if the interior artwork was up to the same standard.

L.B. Cole did the covers for another series called Contact that was all airplane themes (well, and a couple space ships). I have a copy of this issue, courtesy of our own resident L.B. Cole expert, pmpknface:

I'm pretty shocked there was no George Evans cover.

There are exceptions and this may be one, but most comics with Cole covers can be safely slabbed.
