I really liked it! Rudd, Lilly, and Douglas had great chemistry and the jokes all landed. I could have done without the "guest appearance," but that's a minor gripe. I definitely agree with you're assessment of the leads and the humor. I find Evangine Lilly as Hope much more compelling than Black Widow or Scarlet Witch have been in the MCU so far. She's one of my three favorite female leads in the MCU films along with Peggy Carter and Jane Foster. The cast is really deep. I hope Michael Pena's characters comes back. And while the evil tech exec has been done in prior films, I think Corey Stoll did a better job than those villains in the Iron Man films. Saw Ant-Man this past Saturday and enjoyed it. I would disagree on the Hope Pym character though. She didn't seem to have much character beyond sniping at Scott before making a huge U-turn to the scene at the end. I'll concede there wasn't all that much to the Scarlet Witch character, but I think Black Widow is head and shoulders above Hope as a character (granted BW has had much more screen time, but just responding to your comparison).
Still disappointed that it looks like we may never see Janet Van Dyne as the Wasp.

I'm guessing "the scene at the end" means the scene outside the doorway rather than the mid-credits scene. I disagree. I think there's enough set-up (including the car scene) that makes it work. It strikes a good balance between being a surprised but being earned. I also think there are some scenes involving her relationship with Hank that are more genuinely emotive (whether directly or subtly) than what I'm used to with the Widow. Scarlett Johannson often delivers her lines as BW in a monotone. That may be an intentional acting choice to reflect how hardened she's become due to her training, but it doesn't really work. I like her acting more in other roles. I'm also one of the viewers had mixed feelings about how well the Bruce/Natasha pairing worked in Age of Ultron.

Maybe my expectations are too high, but I want to see more from the Widow. I can't help but wonder what Emily Blunt would've done in the role.

I believe when Iron Man 2 was in development Emily Blunt was supposedly the front-runner to play the Black Widow. But supposedly she had a scheduling conflict and had to drop out.

Ant Man - The Movie
It was a fun movie to watch - it's started out kinda slow and right around 30-40 minutes in the movie it's started to pick up steam and the fun begins. I enjoyed it to the extent; but I find this movie wasn't Ant-Man that I wanted to see and I was very disappointed that Hank Pym played by Michael Douglas was not Ant-Man but someone else that I wasn't familiar with. I only saw the trailer once, but I was mildly disappointed that Ant-Man was indeed a character played by Scott Lang / Ant-Man instead; and I find that Paul Rudd did a good job doing so.
Great Action, Special Effects, and a very Interesting Storyline to boot. But, having seen this movie tonight I was generally pleased with it. It's not in my top 10 of Marvel Movies - but I wished that they hadn't hired too many actors/actresses and I thought that Hayley Atwell who played Agent Carter wasn't neccessary and I loved the Stan Lee Cameo as the Bartender was good.
The Hideous Rabbit was somewhat stupid to put in. That's my opinion and no more.
I give the movie 3 1/2 stars out of 5.

I finally saw this last night. I thought it was pretty good overall. I really liked Paul Rudd as the "average joe" kind of character. I don't think we've gotten that with the Marvel heroes yet other than Hawkeye and Falcon, but those characters haven't had their own films yet. Everyone else was pretty solid for the roles they played. I did feel the film was short though. Then I checked and it was three minutes short of two hours. Just when I thought Marvel's act had the possibility of getting stale, they're able to bring something else new to the table without having their franchise get too formulaic. Not sure if that has to do with Ant Man's powers, but this was also a superhero film with a heist element involved within it's narrative, which hadn't been seen before so that was cool. I'm anxious to see how he'll be incorporated in future films. Initially I wanted Hank Pym to be the one that was Ant Man, but Scott Lang should do just fine.

I saw the final teaser after the credits and
SPOILER ALERT:
Captain America and Falcon had the Winter Soldier chained up but I couldn't make out what they said. Did anyone catch what the dialogue was? I actually filmed it with my iPhone but still missed a few key words. Something about not involving Stark.

It's a bit ago, but I have the advantage that all foreign movies in the Netherlands get subtitled: Basically, it was that they can't involve Stark with this due to "the accords" and they would need to get somebody unknown. Falcon then mentions that he knows somebody.

Saw it a second time. Holds up nicely. Can't wait for it to be released to home media.
