Have we ever truly seen the real Darkseid? I mean Didn't he reveal to some guy that his form that we see was just an avatar of his true self? Does that mean he is invincible? But he is Dead in Darkseid war. Confused. in comics , only uncle Ben and Bucky stay dead. Uh, wait, what ?

I haven't read a Darkseid story since he got owned by Doomsday , but I'll go out on a limb and say that this "avatar" will continue to sport the same look.

Unless they bring him back as a female Or unless they make him look like the actor that portrays him in a movie Oh wait......

Yikes, it went from a sexy super heroine to a woman kissing a skeleton.

Venus was constantly shifting genres as the editors searched for some formula where they would be happy with the sales This happened quite a few times in the 1950s and for other companies besides Atlas EC comics, before they discovered horror books, had the comic A Moon..A Girl.. Romance. It changed the title to simply Moon Girl as well as constantly changing genres from romance to fantasy to SF to crime fighter to horror

Was she supposed to be the actual goddess Venus or what?

Was she supposed to be the actual goddess Venus or what? She was originally intended to be the love goddess Venus, yes. It's all gotten a bit confusing, as it now appears there are two separate characters in the Marvel Universe using the name, the goddess herself (who starred in the original Atlas series) and the Venus of the Agents of Atlas title, who is actually a siren who stole Venus's name while under the delusion that she was actually her.

Ooh! I was just reading the Masterworks collection of the first half of the series. Basically, Venus was part of a Blonde Phantom inspired line of female superhero type characters along with Sun Girl and Namora in 1949 - Kind of parallelling the Night Nurse/Shana line that Marvel released in the early '70s... And lasting about as long. All three titles were cancelled after three issues. Some Venus inventory stories were burned off in Marvel Mystery comics and the teen humor books. But, Bam! Romance comics were coming into vogue, and Venus was kinda sorta a romance book, so it was uncancelled a couple months later. The creative team is a hodgepodge for the first dozen or so issues. The book starts as a "small town girl in the big city" type of book (although Venus comes from Mount Olympus located, obviously, on the planet Venus) but becomes more about Godly politics as the book progresses. It reads a LOT like the early Thor comics ("You must not love a mortal!") and Loki is an ongoing antagonist, although he's more of a Pluto/Devil type, ruling the underworld. As EC gained traction, Venus became more and more a horror type book and less a romance comic. The last couple issues are beautifully drawn by Bill Everett (who's a better horror artist than a superhero artist, even - I'd consider him one of the top two '50s MarvelAtlas artists, along with Joe Maneely.) The whole series is good fun, but the last few Everett issues are some of the best horror comics ever. Great, great stuff!

I've always wondered about that series.
Weirdly intrigued now, especially with Bill Everett involved.

Just read Avengers #87 today, providing the origin of Black Panther, but one thing it doesn't explain is why Wakanda has advanced technology (a Panther fortress that pops out of the ground, filled with high-tech gizmos) amidst an otherwise (at the time) pre-industrial society.

I think it's explained in his intro Arc In the Silver Age FF Run. I want to say issue # 52.
