That's interesting - I was under the impression that EC often adapted stories by writers like Bradbury and others without acknowledgement, but it's announced loud and clear on a couple of those covers. Did I get the wrong idea from somewhere or were they just inconsistent, sometimes crediting the original author, sometimes not bothering? EC did do swipes of Bradbury, but when Bradbury caught them at it, he sent them a letter requesting payment. Gaines quickly came to a deal whereby EC would pay Bradbury a small sum and be allowed to do official adaptations of his stories. Once this happened, they were quick to trumpet the fact on their covers: You can read a nice summary of the story here: goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2008/03/13/comic-book-urban-legends-revealed-146/

Never would have guessed that 2nd Mister Mystery cover was drawn by Ross Andru without seeing his name on the cover. Almost an Eisner-esque quality to the the man with the hat.

It shows you how really talented these pros are that they can copy another artists style and come very close to looking like them. I'm FB friends with an artists that recreates covers by Kirby, Ditko and others and it looks so much like the original covers that it blows my mind.

So much stuff I want to read. I don't think I'll ever have the time and money to buy up all the horror comics I want, even with the wealth of reprint material available now.

Beware the Uninvited Corpse? Honestly, how many people actually invite a corpse into their home?
